omg i <3 string theory i refuse to call it "M" theory... sad as it may be i forget what it implies if i call it that, lol u know it just occured to me the tunnel project they r doing to test string theory is probably getting close to completion... They are going to accelerate a single hydrogen atom to what essentially adds up to a few billion times faster than the speed your car moves at, in a tunnel several miles long, and make it hit another atom; if string theory is correct when the atoms collide some of their mass will transfer into a parallel universe, and "hopefully" it will leave behind some detectable radiation so we know it happened. If we can prove string is correct, we're getting close to unravelling the greatest mysteries in the universe.. well... our universe... and all 11 dimensions ^_-

omg /bump i saw a prescreening of transformers tonight and thought i'd just mention what i noticed since we've been "theorizing" about it in here the movie rocked; it had a ton of action, the entire theatre was cheering as each autobot entered the movie, and the graphics were crazy. The fighting scenes were intense as hell and there was hardcore, brutal metal hand to metal hand action (Heck... Megatron picked up another robot that will remain nameless.... and BROKE him in HALF... and optimus prime CUT another bot's head OFF) yet there was much to be desired, as expected. All of the bots lacked defining features; so in the intense fighting scenes one guy would get his ass kicked and u would b left wondering who just died because u couldn't tell which one was which. Another thing was a MASSIVE lack of realism; for instance at the end of the movie the secretary of def says "and there was no evidence of it ever happening".... an ENTIRE city was WHIPED OUT... when it was still full of people and robots were running around shooting at each other... how do a couple million people forget that happened? /rant off Oh and i know there are a few movies that come out in the states before they do in canada, but i'm pritty sure it comes out for u guys tomorrow doesn't it? hope i'm right, haha

i <3 this stuff i'm a complete physics geek <.< oh and rdy to answer ur question about knowing where the centre of the universe is; we don't know, but we know it's expanding because of red shift (i'm a little rusty but i think it's also known as the doplar effect? ) Basically, some guy a rlly long time ago realised that when he looked through a special lense, nething that was moving away from him appeared red; he put that lense in a telescope and pointed it out at the stars, and everything was red. If everything is red, it must ALL be moving away from us, and the only way that can happen (since we arn't the centre of the universe) is that the universe itself is expanding and there is more room for everything to spread out. ooo! ooo! can i explain how they found the speed of light next? or what makes a laser different from a flashlight? like i said, physics geek =D

i've always been a skeptic on such things; but this has probably been the closest to believing that aliens are flying over our heads and studying us i've ever come although i find it hard to believe that if everything he said rlly is true, why aliens would apparently give us some of their technology; if they have those little hovership things all over the place stealthed like that then they cearly want to study our development not help us along the way... and if they did give us some tech one would think they look upon us as equals capable of understanding their science and using it ourselves, leading one to wonder, why be so secretive about it, and why (apparently) only give one government the tech instead of revealing yourselves to the whole world. Surely they would have learned enough to know we divide ourselves amongst nations before giving us technology hundreds of years beyond our own development. But like i said, i don't rlly believe in such things; it's always been human nature to want to feel humbled in some way; and have something unknown, even scary keeping us in check <insert stang's sig here> and yes... i do have a bad habbit of overthinking things... what can i say; i get bored easily
