I use AVG, haven't had a virus in like, forever. Also I don't download midget furry porn, so you might have to make some sacrifices.

My favorite all-time author is probably Kurt Vonnegut. I don't read much anymore outside of classes, however. If I had to pick a favorite book of all time, however, it would probably be Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. His writing style is poetic and engrossing. Reading it was like being in a dreamstate; beauty and darkness twisted into maelstrom of raw emotion. As far as Poe goes, my favorite work is The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket. I believe it is the only novel he wrote, and I think it is his best work. I did read some amazing books this semester for my 20th century Europe class, check them out if they sound interesting to you: The Twelve Chairs: A novel written in young Soviet Russia. Extremely entertaining and humorous; hilarious even by today's standards. Goodbye to All That: The autobiography of Robert Graves, a British war-poet that fought in the trenches of World War I. Graves is a fantastic writer, and possesses an exceptional dry humor. Anybody with a passing interest in WWI should read this.

Nah, you have to go to Wal-mart for that.

So if I was going to buy a pistol for myself, say for xmas, what would be a good first gun? I'm not big on revolvers, on the basis that they don't look as cool xD Ecth, can you elaborate on how you are re-working that blade? I've always wanted a real sword, replicas are pretty lame...

Holy crap, a double neck acoustic xD Don't see those very often!

I found this video, thought it was cool: Mute Math - Typical: electro rock? e: Skinny Puppy (industrial) video with sweet break dancing: e2: Opeth - The Drapery Falls: Swedish prog metal; amazing song!

Dez: LOL @ the "F(*K Guitar Center" song, I can relate As far as the hip-hop acts go, I actually liked the one you described as more rap-ish better 0_o

He will float down from the heavens with a guitar crafted from gold and infant bones and proceed to 100% dragonforce on expert while playing with his toes. You heard it here first.

In light of me setting us up the bomb in the last thread, I decided to make a new one. I envision everybody posting links to music/videos from artists that they are currently interested in. In fact, I think a good requirement would be that every post needs at least one link to some form of media related to music. If you post a link to music, please add a note stating what genre it belongs to. Don't post here just to troll, or say "lol ur music sux", because there was enough of that last time around. Hopefully we got it out of our systems. Without further adieu, what I currently have on my playlist: Riverside: Polish progressive rock Blotted Science: Technical instrumental metal (no screaming zomg!) The Absence: Melodic death/thrash metal Genghis Tron: Spastic math metal getting freaky with some chill trance Anaal Nathrakh: Modern black metal with the most tortured vocals since Burzum Wolves in the Throne Room: Atmospheric black metal with a focus on nature That should be enough for now... Looking forward to seeing what everybody else is listening to!

My college already offers an 'alternative' called Ruckus. It sucks.

lol, Rodney Carrington is pretty funny. You didn't have to post a video for me to know that. I'm not calling anybody the most talented musican ever. That would be impossible to determine, there are so many different styles. But would you not agree that somebody that masters the guitar, can play it while singing, and also writes every other instrument in the band is supremely talented? I guess it's hard to tell without musical background, but those guitar riffs, the way they weave in and out of dissonance and harmony, while they are playing two separate things... /unngghnghghgh To me, stuff like that is the pinnacle of writing music, as opposed to strumming some minor chords over a 4/4. I guess I just can't stand too much simplicity. Guys like Mos Def are an exception to the rule, imo. This sort of stuff I can listen to, even if the looping samples get repetitive, unlike the shit that gets spewed out like below (although it makes me laugh): I'm bouncin on my toe watch me supersoak dat hoe I'ma pass it to arab then he gon pass it to the low (low) haterz wanna be me Soulja boy, I'm the man They be lookin at my neck sayin it's the rubberband man (man) watch me do it (watch me do it) dance (dance) Let get to it (let get to it) Nope, you cant do it like me Hoe, so dont do it like me Folk, I see you tryna do it like me Man, that shit was ugly For rap, it really comes down to intelligent lyrics, which appear to be in short supply.
