We have taken the time to put together a brief preview of the Profession changes for the upcoming content patch. This list does not contain all of the upcoming changes, but instead gives a brief look at what is to come. Alchemy Elixirs now stack in two categories, Battle (Offensive) and Guardian (Defensive) Elixirs. You can only have one of each type of Elixir up at a time. As a result Elixirs now stack with class abilities such as "Arcane Intellect." Four new defensive elixirs have been added. Two are on trainers, one is in Halaa and one is in Cenarion Expedition. "Flask of Petrification" can no longer be turned off during its duration, but it now will clear all threat from all monsters for the duration of the effect. Though monsters may reaquire you after the effect ends. The cost to purchase Imbued Vials has been reduced. Enchanting Enchant Bracer-Spellpower had its primal costs reduced slightly. Enchanting recipes that increase spell damage now also increase healing as well. The "Major Defense Bracer" enchantment has been moved from Ethereum Researchers to Ethereum Nullifiers. Engineering A recipe for "Frost Grenades" and the "Icy Blasting Primers" needed to make them are now on engineering trainers. Engineering recipes can now be placed in engineering bags, as can engineer made fireworks. Many engineering recipes will now give skillups for longer than the previously did. "Seaforium" now opens locked chests as well as locked doors The Poultryizer and Nigh Invulnerability Belt now cause mishaps less often. The Goblin Rocket Launcher cooldown has been reduced significantly. 11 new epic goggles have been introduced at 350 engineering skill and are available from the trainer. They range from cloth to plate, and have a variety of stats to appeal to most talent specs. Fishing The fishing timer has been reduced from 30 to 20 seconds and it now takes less time to fish. The fishing timer can no longer run through its duration without a fish biting. Fishing has been removed from Arathi Basin and Alterac Valley. You can now fish in Underbog. Jewelcrafting The jewelcrafting UI now has gems split up by color so it is easier to find gems of a specific color to create. A number new gem cuts to existing gems have been added to the game. Included among them are a spell hit gem and more multi-stat gems that have attack power on them. Jewelcrafters can make two new melee oriented meta gems. One is found randomly as a world drop and the other sold by the reputation vendor. Thorium requirements for most recipes has been reduced. Prospecting now always yields at least 1 gem. Overall, the amount of gems received from prospecting has been increased. New recipes have been added that use the Jaggal and Shadow Pearls. Leatherworking Skinning higher level creatures will give more leather; you will no longer get a single leather scrap. "Knothide Armor" kits now require less leather to make and give skill increases for longer. Leatherworking made primalstrike set now has an attack power set bonus rather than a strength set bonus. edit: Just noticed Gynis posted this in Miro's thread elsewhere. Anywho... Yay for not being able to use more than 2 elixers. I will no longer be compelled to use 4 at a time. It was starting to get expensive.

Like most, if not all, FP is something which I could not have imagined from my start in WoW and being without it now is something that I find equally unimaginable. 27 months ago I didn't plan on playing this game for very long, if at all, but having a dozen RL friends that did made it difficult not to. Now that number has grown by multiples and it will make it even more difficult to ever stop. Most outside the guild can't fathom what we have, because for them their guild is nothing more than a way to play a game. For a lot of us, the game is a way for us to be a guild. It's more than a first kill of a new boss or shiny epics. It's /g, /o, vent, RL parties, forums, and a lot more. I always look forward to seeing people at our brunches/parties/concerts/orgies and life wouldn't be quite the same if not for the people that FP has brought into it. Thanks to those that worked hard and put up with a lot of BS back in the early days to keep FP together and running smoothly. BW

That may now come to pass, in a manner of speaking. An NVIDIA engineer, who wishes to remain anonymous, has just clued us in on the whole deal. This engineer claims that while allegations of poor gaming performance are correct, the reason is not really poor drivers. Brace yourselves for the truth. Right after the G80 was taped out, NVIDIA discovered a bug in the vertex shader that causes the GPU to generate slightly incorrect geometry transformation data. The difference was minimal enough to escape attention but it was significant enough to render a scene incorrectly. Now, what's the big deal about a slightly incorrect scene? After all, you can't even tell the difference between 2xAA and 4xAA. What would a slightly different scene matter when you are zipping along at 60+ fps? Well, that's what YOU think. Here's the bummer. What it really means is that objects can be rendered off to one side. For FPS gamers, this can cause shots aimed at those objects (like your opponents) to miss when they should really hit. In RTS games, it may cause you to click on the wrong unit or send your units to attack a different target. So, yeah, you can now blame your poor gaming skills on a bug. The Solution There is no solution actually. NVIDIA engineers have been cracking their heads over this bug and came to the conclusion that there is no solution other than to correct the bug. So, what does this mean for current GeForce 8800 GTX/GTS users? Well, the engineer isn't too sure what NVIDIA marketing has in mind, but s/he thinks it will be one of the following "solutions" that they have been throwing around the last few weeks : NVIDIA might recall all affected cards and replace them with GeForce 8900 GTX/GTS cards when they are released in the "near future". NVIDIA might recall all affected cards and replace them right away with GeForce 8600 Ultra/GTS cards, and offer those affected a free day-trip to NVIDIA HQ and lunch with NVIDIA CEO and President, Huang Jen-Hsun. Understandably, Mr. Huang won't be particularly keen on having thousands of lunches with affected users. So, a more reasonable solution would be large group lunches spread over several weeks. Still, it would be quite something to sit and talk shop with him, wouldn't it? When Do We Get The Recall? Actually, some GeForce 8800 GTX/GTS users have already been contacted about the recall and given the option of telling NVIDIA their preference. This is because NVIDIA intends to perform this recall in stages as replacement cards will be very limited for some time. Therefore, those who actually sent in their registration cards will be the first to receive replacement cards. However, the engineer reveals a way to beat the crowd and even get some cheap NVIDIA cards in the process. There's a hidden NVIDIA registration page meant for use by NVIDIA staff and partners to get registered early. It also includes a section that allows them to purchase NVIDIA cards at cost prices.
