  5. I wont be playing either by the time it comes out. /mmo-retirement
  6. I doubt it. Did you read the post from Tigoil you posted? They got grief for patching stuff in the way they did pre-BC, so now they just threw it all out on the table at once pretty much and said "here ya go, have at it". BT is like THE instance in BC lore-wise. What else could there be? I just don't think they'll be patching in any more going by all the countless interviews and posts that Blizz Dev's and CM's have done. It's just not fitting with what they said they are trying to do with BC raiding.
  7. Wow, I couldn't disagree more. World firsts/server firsts don't mean shit anymore, and therefore not much of a competition. It use to mean something. Now there are so many instances, so many bosses, that no one really cares. Its like, "oh, another boss dead, meh". Blizz reps have stated repeatedly that they want all of BC raid instances to be completed by all the raiding guilds, there are no more "uber elitist" guild only bosses like Naxx. They knew when making Naxx that only a few people would have time and the skill to finish it, and they've chosen not to do anything like that in BC. So if the encounters are designed to be accessible to guilds like us, then of course to guilds like Nihilum the bosses are going to be cake. That diminishes the value of a "world first" greatly. It isn’t because 25 man raids are easier to manage, and therefore more productive, it’s just that Blizzard has chosen to tune raid encounters in a way that allows all raiding guilds the ability to complete it. And I doubt they’ll be rushing to add new content just for the sake of a few guilds. If those guilds complete shit months before others, then it’s their own fault if they get bored with the game. The only other raid that Blizz has mentioned for BC is Zul’Amon, a 10 man. I doubt they’ll be anymore 25 mans til the next XP, which will be god knows when in ’08.

  23. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates took the stage together for an interview at some tech conference/convention thing yesterday. Some of you might be interested I guess. It's an interesting read, well, I thought so. =) /geek http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/30/steve-j...ve-from-d-2007/ Also a one on one with Jobs and he shows off some youtube on Apple TV stuff http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/30/steve-j...ve-from-d-2007/ And boring ol' Steve Balmer doing his interview and showing off the Surface table http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/30/steve-b...ve-from-d-2007/
  24. I remember seeing videos of a prototype version being displayed at last years TED conference (which to me still looks way cooler than Microsofts rear-projection table). At the time it wasn't owned by Microsoft, though (or at least not presented as a MS product). I assume they opened their Scrooge McDuck style piggy banks to buy it up from the Media Research Laboratory. Kev, you're partially right. This won't be commercially viable any time soon. In 5 to 10 years though I would expect to see it in retail applications, especially in countries like Japan and Korea. In the mean time it will probably be used more for industry use. Cartographers, military, architects, engineers, graphic design, anyone that can afford to spend $10k per unit. Edit: actually MS's table is a different project, just really similar. MRL's table has been in commercial production for a year now. The developer's company, Perceptive Pixel, has been selling them. The CIA's already installed a lot of them. lawl
  25. They were never TIF, Matt TGA is for the win. screw compression. JPG is FTL. Anyone that doesn't have PS to view them in .... well... forget them.
