The Arcatraz

Every now and then I do a instance overview of some of the bigger instances after I complete them in the beta as it gives a general idea of what to expect and shows some of the things in the beta that some people may not know about. This instance was by far the funnest 5 man I have been in so far.

 

The Arcatraz is the last 5 man dungeon to be opened on the beta and also the last wing of Tempest Keep. It is a highly scripted instance and once again shows that if players are not paying attention the group is dead.

 

The Arcatraz is true to its name and is a satellite of Tempest Keep that the Blood Elves turned into a prison but the Warden has gone insane and released everything from the prison.

The first boss is a giant shade like creature that creates void zones all over the map a lot like Blaumeux of the 4 horseman in Naxx. He also does a huge AoE knockback along with casting Seed of Corruption of random people. I also wiped us once by accidently taking agro The loot he dropped at the end was:

Since the Blood Elves even betrayed Illidan and are with the Burning Legion now there are also quite a few Eredar and other Legion creatures here:

The next boss was a Shivan a 4 armed demon of the Legion. Her fight was pretty simple after the Warlock pulled agro and killed himself. Every 15 seconds or so she does a whirlwind which afterwards she quickly begins to cast a heal that needs to be interupted. The loot after her death was:

The boss right after her is a Wrathgaurd he was a bit tougher. He does a knockback against the tank so needed tanked against a wall. He also chooses a random target to charge and behind him green flames pop up that do large amounts of damage. I actually had to heal a bit on this fight since he was a bit tougher.

Afterwards the gate that was blocking us is unlocked and we take the path towards the final boss

Along the way there are Abyssals that are a lot like the Anubisaths in Ahn'Qiraj and drop meteors so everyone needs to stay grouped.

Afterwards we entered the final bosses room to finish up the pulls.

Now the final boss is probably the funnest boss I have ever versed and was highly highly scripted. The encounters are 5 man versions of 40 man bosses. The fight begins with him summoning a giant Warp Stalker and after it is dead he opens the next prison cell and instead of a giant monster we get a little gnome. Before helping us he conjures water and buffs himself up.

Next is a Gehennas copy who does a rain of fire and his curse. It wa spretty simple and he died.

Next is a Broodlord copy who does the same thing as Broodlord does.

The final encounter he opens the prison behind him for his 'master' that has been controlling him to come out. The monster comes out and kills him and is a 5 man version of Skeram.

He did the same things as Skeram but instead of 2 clones it was only 1.

 

After he died we got 2 level 70 blue set pieces for classes we didn't even have in the party The boss also bugged at around 20% when he mind controlled me and after the mind control he just sat there with a mind flay line going into my chars head till he died.

From 12:47 AM to 3:12 AM with a few wipes.

Wow thats good news for the people like me without much time to play the game anymore. I'm really looking forward to the new 5 man content!
