To the cones ( or is it rods) in your eyes, red and green are opposites... the same is true of yellow and blue. That's why if you look through red sunglasses for any length of time, when you remove them everything appears to be tinted green. (can try the same thing by staring at a union jack.... AHHH... go get a first year psych book)
