Yup. I still have the video that we made about it. As I recall Heliadan and I were the Honor guard for the bride =) /famous

Didn't you have this EXACT problem when you were installing from the CD the last time I walked you through this. Dude seriously?
-
Yes, the upgrade version is just that, an upgrade. It'll use the kernel of your host OS to build the modules for 7. This is a messy process and I can guarantee will lead to problems. Buy the full version (Or run the Beta which is still available for testing from torrent sites) to see if you want to make the switch. I was using Vista before I made the switch and I can honestly say, while I never had any performance degradation with Vista, 7 is considerably snappier feeling.

Color me intrigued, although I'm not really excited about being a generation of directx behind. I'm still hella interested.

If I didn't have to rely on virtualization for linux gaming (or wine ... /shudder) I'd be all over it too. But sadly if I want to take advantage of direct X, windows is it. And seriously Tony, wtf?

Feels a little odd doing this again, but here goes. I'd be the one on the right w/ the cigar, that sexy little guy on the left is Demetricus. And this is me from mardi gras circut '04

Cigars are wrapped in tobacco leaf. Cigarettes are wrapped in paper. Black and milds get away with it as they don't have any filler like cigarettes do. It's all tobacco leaf, just highly processed. This is why newbies at the parties get the "Do not fucking inhale" speech from me if they've never smoked before. The major difference is that paper is more porous then the leaf. Meaning that when you inhale air is pulled in from every point in front of your moth. In a cigar the leaf wrapper is considerably more dense, so all the intake is forced through the length of the cigar, thus concentrating the level of tobacco that you ingest. A good comparison for the cigars that I usually bring is 1 cigar = 1 pack of Marlboroughs. Now take those Marlboroughs, put them in a tube and rip off the filters. Now you're considerably closer to a cigar in both the level of tobacco being burned and the way in which it burns. Hence the death stare, and the "Do NOT inhale" you get from me every time. It's all about the flavor, not the nicotine. I'll go for months between cigars usually.

Just for the record, I'm against seat belt laws, helmet laws, and most drug laws. Reason? If you want to kill yourself that's your business. Sadly as has been pointed out, choices you make for yourself no longer just effect you. I'm not exactly happy about this, but I do understand the ban. I'll freaking miss my cloves though. However if they come after my cigars, violence will ensue.

I still remember the old straight black of the old forums from when it was KoA's boards ... Fuck that was a long time ago...

I can barely tolerate your intolerance. <3

Should be in town 6-7ish, maybe earlier if I can get up at a decent hour and there are no problems on the way up. *crosses fingers*

I need to get off my ass and clock out my A+ and Net+, just havne't gotten around to spending the money on them yet =/ Funny thing is there's a guy w/ an A+ that sits behind me, and I can tech rings around him half asleep.

I guarran-goddamn-tee that your core 2 duo is not going to be able to put that video card under load. You're going to have WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more graphics card then you can use. Imo, a GTX275 is a better use of the money. Hell you could get 2 of those and run them in SLI, and spend less for the pair and get on par or better performance (if you can over clock at all you'd easily be able to exceede the performance level of that $500 card) If you're serrious about heaping money into the 295 I'd HIGLY recomend upgraded your CPU. At least a core2 quad or better.

Your X2 is pretty decent, I'd be more interested in seeing what kind of framerates you're seeing now with that setup. For me the 9800 was the bottleneck, but I'm running a 64big OS and a Q6600 OC'd to 3.18 (it's on air give me a break). After some testing w/ a GTX260 I went from 9k to 11k in 3dmark vantage. I'm going to be grabbing another one to run them in SLI. If your board can support it I'd recommend going that route. Sadly WoW doesn't boast an advance enough graphics engine to really take advantage of the cards performance (like physx). In the upgrading from the older card to the new I really haven't seen much of an increase in FPS. I have noticed the difference in L4D and TF2 however. I DO expect a decent jump in FPS when I go SLI, and the later water cooling that's coming to push the quad core until it burns up. Short answer - GPU, but marginally.

There's a reason that we call them "Best Try".

Glad you like it man. If you need any kind of support for it let me know I can look into stuff for you. They've moved me to a tech only queue now but I still have all the same resources that I used to. Anything you want to know about the box, your warranty, or policy feel free to ask. I do have one question though, I was wondering if you had the same reaction to those things that I did when I saw one. "Holy hell that's big!"
