Garnok 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2007 Thanks for the hint Bishop Cinnabar - Mercury mineral Uses Mercury is used to manufacture chlorine and caustic soda (35%). Because it is a metal, mercury conducts electricity making it useful in electronics and electrical applications (30%). Mercury, for example, is necessary in fluorescent light tubes. Mercury was an important ingredient in batteries, but newer types of batteries use other metals. The remaining 35% of mercury usage is in scientific measuring instruments such as thermometers and barometers, and is combined with other metals and used for in fillings for teeth (called amalgams by dentists)

stangmeister 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2007 It's the Continental Divide. All rain water that falls west of this line will flow westward toward the pacific or south. All rain water east of it drains out to the Atlantic or gulf of mexico. I thought someone would nail it straight away! GJ Garnok Here is a visual of what it does: http://picture-book.com/files/userimages/238u/continental-divide.png
