Ecthelion 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 We are not a PVP guild though . . . We're a diverse guild, with varied interests and skills. There's always been a strong PvP underground here, so lets not completely shut the door on it when we're just about to see its rebirth. As Joe said, PvP 4 life. Gynis 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 I don't think PVP in FP has ever been underground. I think it's alive and well. I just think the interest in it comes in waves. Sometimes, the whole guild goes into a horde killing frenzy, and then there are times when people just really want to farm content for repair bills or raid or whatever. Diversity is definitely the word to use. And while I think that PVP definitely ups your reflexes and gives you a greater understanding of your character, it doesn't make you good at PvE. Especially in a raid environment. A lot of PvE is strategy and execution, where PvP has those elements, the precision required is a lot more lax. Although, in my opinion, if you do either exclusively, you're missing out on an entire aspect of the game and trumping your ability to enjoy the game to its fullest. Joesf 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Bob whats real pvp... Bob wants Warhammer. PvE strategies don't change, the bosses don't react to how you assault them, they don't focus on the healers or CCing the tanks. They are scripted fights. They are like musicals, you have to dance their complicated dance to a certain point of precision. PvE requires attention to detail and skill consistency. PvE also requires a certain level of gear. PvP strategies are generalized and the other team is always reactive to your method of attack. PvP is like a metal concert's mosh pit, organized chaos, almost no two fights are the same. PvP requires individual team work and smart reactive playing skills. The more undergeared you are to your enemy, the smarter you have to play. And I wouldn't say FP is a PvE guild either. Its casual. I'd greatly disagree, but I've no intention of getting into a sparing match over what I've experienced. I will say that it's never really been alive and well, more of survived. This really isn't something I'm going to give ground on, but like I said I've got not intention of sparing, we'll just agree to disagree. I can say this: I can name a great number of people in FP that are exceptional at PvE, and are horrid at PvP. I can't name anyone in FP that's great at PvP that isn't great at PvE, not one soul. But like the man said, we're casual.
Gynis 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2007 PvP is alive and well because the players who chose to PvP do so. The only thing that prevents people from PvPing in FP is members losing interest in PvP. But you're right, FP is definitely a different flavor of guild. I'm not sure I'd call us casual exactly. Relaxed, definitely though. loofa 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2007 (edited) I was just saying FP is a a PVE guild, the structure is set up that way. Sure we PVP but the classification for us would undoubtedly be PVE. For FP to put time into both to satisfy both extremes of play style is not feasible from a realistic perspective. We can't create a split in the guild (which we'd have to do in order to manage both PVE and PVP events) so we label ourselves as "PVE" and the "PVP" side of our play is put second as priority to the general populace of the guild. So, "We are not a PVP guild though . . ." was tossed out there by me to get ya'll to think about the true structure of FP as a guild. Sure we'll do a couple guild vs guild bg's but I doubt it will be frequent and sustainable like our PVE raiding night. Also, I've seen PVPers and PVEers who aren't good at the other side of the game, but that is just an opinion and that is based only on what results I see. So there is a lot of room for error, none of us will always be right when judging someones skill at something, thats why we spend time discussing how we think people are performing compared to ourselves so we can get a variety of opinions and give people the fair chance they deserve. Shadrende 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2007 This thread is getting interesting PVP and PVE are two different aspects of the game and both involve different mindsets. Granted you have to be part of a team for each if you want to succeed but I will say in each case there are players that are better at one and not the other. And PVE skill does not mean instant PVP still, just like PVP skill doesnt mean you can successfully do PVE. We are all fortunate to have a bunch of people that are good at both. I think to master either one takes a great deal of time and practice. But they are different, and as long as people play which style they like best and have fun thats all that matters And going back to the topic at hand I think guild vs guild pvp would be awesome. Bentley 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2007 PvP brings a universe of abilities to a players attention that PvE does not demand. FP may not be considered a PvP guild. But it is on a PvP server.... so it is a PvP guild. Name people who are well known on skullcrusher and I gurantee that 90% of the people you name off are people who excel in PvP and PvE. Just a fact.... If you don't PvP that doesn't make you suck at PvE. but You will find alot of people who are great at PvE who can not PvP at all. You won't find nearly as many people... in fact i challenge anyone to name one person who was awesome at PvP and sucked at PvE. FP focus is not battlegrounds.... is not arena's.... but as long as it is located on Skullcrusher a part of it will always be PvP. Tutubo1 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2007 That's cuz they made him pick up a shield and lose his other axe. QQ. I wish they'd just let people switch talents for free. I think a trip to Azeroth and a class trainer is enough of a price to pay to change your talents. So lame they make a game with a diverse gameplay experience and then penalize those who wish to participate in both sides of the game. Free Vanin! ..and make respeccing cost nothing.
