Happy Second Birthday!

When I look back at the past two years, I can’t decide if I’m amazed, perplexed, or horrified. What started out as an experiment (the merger of two little guilds full of friends to see if we could get enough online to fill an instance) has turned into something much larger than I had ever thought possible through an MMO. And I don’t mean larger in the sense that we seem to kick 15 people a day for inactivity, and yet the roster is still 4000 people long.

I mean larger in the sense that over the past two years, FP has become more than a guild in a video game. It is a group of real friends – people who drive cross country to go to concerts (see you Friday, Ben, Chris, and Erik), people who move cross country to make a change in their lives but are supported by folks they met through FP (Hi FPSLC!), and people who may not have traveled yet, but will some day, and we’ll start a whole new set of adventures when they get here. (Btw, I’m using Here as Atlanta, but Lots of FP Boston and FP SLC trips have taken place too). We’ve become a family. A real family made up of lots of families! Poor Vanin is still wondering why Lyrin gives Shad the bigger half of the sandwich when she makes their lunches. Ben’s just happy to see a sandwich. That’s FAMILY.

For my part in the whole debacle, I’m thankful. I’m thankful that Shoop trusted me enough to let me help guide the ship. I’m thankful for Ghost, Gryph, and Stangmeister for helping with that seemingly insurmountable task. I’m thankful for the members of FP who make logging in a pleasure every night. Every frustration, every long night staying up talking about some game issue and being tired as CRAP the next morning is worth it when I can log in and see some stupid-funny comment in /gchat. Some hilarious whisper during a raid. The exhilaration of downing that boss for the first time, and then ZOMG the second!!!

To me, WoW is just a way to hang out with my friends. My friends being people that I came into FP with, and those who I’ve made real relationships with through it.

Two years! That’s not a long time in the grand scheme of things. But for something like this, I think it’s an eternity.

Kudos to FP for being the most amazing guild on the server, with the most amazing family. We may have lost a few members in the guild list here or there, but truly, most of them will always be FP to me. And I hope they drop by too and say hello! It’s their birthday too, after all!

Much love FP, if you're in the guild or not, /toast. It's been a wild ride, and I cant believe we're still going strong. Last year today I wrote something like this for our first birthday, back then I couldn't see it ending anytime soon and as I sit here now, I still cant.

Well said Mike.

Like most, if not all, FP is something which I could not have imagined from my start in WoW and being without it now is something that I find equally unimaginable. 27 months ago I didn't plan on playing this game for very long, if at all, but having a dozen RL friends that did made it difficult not to. Now that number has grown by multiples and it will make it even more difficult to ever stop.

Most outside the guild can't fathom what we have, because for them their guild is nothing more than a way to play a game. For a lot of us, the game is a way for us to be a guild. It's more than a first kill of a new boss or shiny epics. It's /g, /o, vent, RL parties, forums, and a lot more.

I always look forward to seeing people at our brunches/parties/concerts/orgies and life wouldn't be quite the same if not for the people that FP has brought into it. Thanks to those that worked hard and put up with a lot of BS back in the early days to keep FP together and running smoothly.

I spent a year and a half in FP. I had my parents come to FP. I am thrilled that I got to participate in firsts such as Rag and clearing of BWL and all the adventures we have had. I may not currently wear a Forgotten Prophets tag or tabard but I am sure many of you know that I am still a priest you can call on for help at anytime and I am sure in the future I will continue to lean on the strong friendships Forgotten Prophets allowed me to make.

BW: This sums up my feelings about FP better than anything I've ever written.

QFT

I was in PvPing with the Immortals the other day and had mentioned that we were having a big get together. They made a joke about it jsut being a dorks LAN party or something. I started to laugh and was like "Screw that. The past couple of get togethers we get drunk and party till 4-5am Friday night and then go out somewhere partying Saturday night. Were headed out to a concert this go round." They were pretty quiet and someone said... "Wow that sounds pretty cool. Why the hell don't we do that?"

PS - When I look at that cake all I can think of is Mekock decorated it with his twitching back and forth.

I don't have much to add of any useful value (much like any vent conversation) but that doesn't stop me then and it won't stop me now!

Our little guild grew a lot larger then I would have ever thought possible, and I certaintly didn't expect us to ever see inside of MC. I used to look at Rag loot and shake my head with a feeling of "it's not for me" and not there isn't a piece on thottbot that I don't look and know we will see it. We have conquered content in a guild that favors relationships over progression. Even the people who leave the guild either come back or keep in contact with us for a long time.

On a personal note, I'm a cynical person at heart and I always thought I'd come to a guild and enjoy it for 10-20 days and quit. I never thought I'd meet so many people who have become my extended family. People who I care about and share some of the happiest and saddest moments with. I remember a few times staying up until 12am to get another attempt on Ouro and then staying up 'till 4 am to write a paper just to wake up at 7 am to turn it in. I didn't regret it then and I don't regret it now.

Here's to another year! Cheers FP!

I'm fairly incapacitated at this stafe of the night so i'm gonna make this short and sweet =)

There are very few things in this world that would make a man voluntarily wake up at 8am repeatedly, regardless of how shattered he his from the night-before happenings to play a game and communicate casually with people he has met online who live halfway across the globe.

Nuff said =)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FP!!!

2 years now, I can't believe Candi has put up with me playing this game every night for 2 years ;)

This is a great accomplishment for any guild but more so it speaks volumes for the kind of leadership that we have been blessed to have. Without their guiding force we could not have survived this long and progressed this far. This is a game, but these people have sacrificed time and enjoyment to keep the machine running.

/salute

BTW: it's not our official anniversary until someone ninjas something

Old but good!

I think I heard someone hit need on an item in karazhan when they were supposed to pass last night if that counts. (no ninjaing! Danarus!)
