Beornwarrior 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2006 Found an article on gamespot today on the Burning Crusade and thought Id share a couple things from it. If you already know them act like you didnt =P The game's existing "honor" system is being revamped so that it will no longer be a competitive ladder. Instead, players will be able to, according to lead game designer Tom Chilton, earn honor "at their own pace," and use their honor points as currency to spend on rewards. Im assuming this will do away with pvp ranks. Curious as too how much honor armor/weapons will cost. Burning Crusade will add an all-new form of PvP: an arena combat system, which lets players form teams of two to five players and go up against other teams in designated arenas. Basically like the STV arena except it will be setup like a battleground where you Queue up. I've heard this idea mentioned alot and Im looking forward to this one. Along with fighting the horde you'll also be put up against alliance. In response to player feedback, Burning Crusade's raid instances will be built for either 10- or 25-player raiding parties, rather than the standard 40-player raids. This definitely allows alot more guilds the opportunity to progress as much as any other guild. I kinda agree with Blizzards decision; however, i think it will put the large guilds such as Immo, Rage, FP, etc. into a tough decision. Run two groups or drop to one. In addition, Burning Crusade's raid dungeons will offer multiple difficulty settings based on your character's level, and may actually offer some replay value after you've finished them. So you do a dungeon at level 62 and then when your 70 can go back play through it on a higher difficulty setting and receive better loot. You can read the rest of the Gamespot article here. The rest of the article goes into detail about the new dungeons being added.
Xinia 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2006 Awww/scratches off GM from 'to do' list Well I can't really give much feedback on the new pvp system, but we'll have to see how it works out. I like the smaller dungeon raids though. I think that will allow more opportunity for others.
stangmeister 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2006 The only change im not happy about is the 25 man raid cap. I can see their point, I just dont want to have to adjust to that.

Synch 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2006 All of these changes have me quite excited. I think the most controversial, and as I've read General Discussion on the offical WoW boards it is, is the 25man raid dungeons. What we have to remember is that BC is going to totally reset the game, there's a new level cap. The only thing is uber raiders who aren't healers (lol suckers, me included ) will have an easier time grinding to 70. It'll be about a week solid of /played time to ding 70. I think this week of /played time is going to separate guilds in a way. ( A good way.) Not everyone will be able to make it to 70 so quickly, so the 25man dungeon thing won't be that big of an issue. Everyone will level and gear at their own pace. I think where some of the smaller raid guilds based around 50 players, will have issues with the 25man cap, FP will prevail. We have a larger base of players-- and with the level cap changing, we'll all have pretty decent blues from hellfire citadel. By the time we hit 70, most members should have adequate gear for conquering 25man content. Those that are the first to 70 will start on the new 25man dungeon, and those that catch up will maybe try and form a second raid group. I know we have enough players to have 1 hardcore, and 1 more casual 25man. I just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in, as I take this new dungeon cap to be a blessing, and less of a curse. Its fairly easy to get 20 people together for a zg run as it is now, 5 more people for a more casual raid group should be... a synch! EDIT: Oh, and the new pvp system and arena style play is going to make for more equal geared pvp, and fairer matchups and more casuals will be able to enjoy themselves in pvp. Many people I know (myself included) will most likely enjoy the pvp content more than the raid content-- its just up to Blizzard to ensure pvp gear is difficult to obtain, but possible. Like I said, this is just my 2 cents worth of optimism and some ideas I've been throwing around in my head. It speaks a lot that the only hot topic from this interview was the new raid cap, and not about how the new pvp system could be totally awesome. It speaks a lot about how the game has developed over the last 2 years. The game was supposed to be very pvp oriented in the first place... Maybe those 15members who normally showed up for the raid were there to get better gear to pvp with? Huh? Maybe now they'll just go pvp instead. Miroku 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2006 Yes, the 25-man raids are gonna suck. Half the fun of 40-mans is getting together with that many guildies and doing something.. they're an event in and of themselves. but.. *grins* I WILL BE ABLE TO GET A FLYING DRAGON TO RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!! first thing I'm doing is getting to 70 and getting me a Nether Drake... I don't care how rare... I don't care how expensive.... come hell or high water... I WILL BE RIDING A DRAGON!
Shugenja 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 The 25 and 10 dungeosn annoys many classes. Mostly the "DPS class that bring nothing but DPS" like... Rogues.. and Hunters... and Fury Warriors... and others. Mostly in the 5 man dungeons theyll make. 1 warrior, 1 priest, 1 mage, 1 dps class[rogue, hunter, fury warrior], 1 other class[warlock, druid, pally, shaman]. ... I may be wrong on the settings and all.. but.. I think itll be hard to choose who goes in and who cannot. Rest seems really nice! -Shu

Beornwarrior 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 Adding to this post since im not sure if anyone will actually read the article. The blood elf mount will be the cokatrice and the draeni mount will be the elekk which is supposably similar to a war elephant. Flying mounts will be an armored wyvern for the horde an a armored griffon for the alliance. The nether drake and other flying mounts will be extremely rare and most likely instance drops similar to how they are now. Kinda dissapointed about the flying mounts as I was hoping for a dragon. Vanin 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 I think the 25 man limit on dungeons is a cop out, they could've just as easily had 25 man dungeons and new 40 man dungeons. There was no reason to cut out a part of the game that is enjoyed by a lot of WoW players. The Honor system revamp seems like a cool idea, but I guess we'll have to see it in action. I bet it'll still be just as bad of a grind as always. The Flying mounts though sound pretty cool, I can't wait to see those in action. Drunknduncan 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 I would like to think that the 40 man raids woul dnot be completely eliminated. Maybe down the road they will add 40 man instances once they see a good amount of players hit lvl 70. Maybe just add the instances in a patch after the release because they figure they can get the expansion out faster, and work on the 40's later. Just a thought. Joesf 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 Ya, I think they're currently just focusing on 10- 25- man raids currently since everyone is going to be focused on leveling. It would be a bit ridiculous to require 40-man raids for leveling up to 70. I kinda like it. I always felt the 20man raids were more effecient. More demanding of individuals. Plus 40 people and ~2 epics per boss is a bit of a drag in the long term. This will improve the speed at which players will get gear over a week-week basis thus creating more of an improvement in the raids. Look how long it took for us to get geared up thru MC in order to have enough people decently geared in order to do BWL and AQ40. Imagine how much faster that would have been if it were only a 25man. And if those who sign up for a raid would always show up () we should be able fill 2 raids fairly easy. How much fun was it when ZG came out to have the 2 groups semi-competing with each other?! Kaiten 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2006 Well, I like to plan stuff out. I would certainly lead raids, but I can't post a new raid for people to join. Doing pick up stuff isn't my style.
