Ravenheart 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2006 so as a few of you know, i just got to uni in sydney. ive been trying to get my connection working, which is proving harder than i thought. the uni has a proxy server which i have to sign into to get access to the web, and as you can see, it works with browsing (since im able to make this post) and MSN messenger, but for some reason, it doesnt work for WoW. i am investigating if this is due to a ban on online games, but till then, i need answers!! when i open the launcher, it prompts me for a username and password, which i give, and then it comes up with the info on the launcher. if i enter the wrong password, it will just prompt me again and the launcher text doesnt show up. when i enter the correct password, the text on the launcher shows up, and i press play. everythings fine right? thats what i thought. only when i enter my WoW username/pw does it get stuck on "connecting". what i find weird is that i can enter the correct proxy username/pw when the launcher comes up and get the text on the launcher, but when i try to log into WoW it doesnt seem to want to connect. does anyone else use a proxy server? if so, how the hell do i solve this problem!?! the shakes are starting.... Yea... we hv us a problem... i've been doing a little research around and hv come upon a program called sockscap32. Anyone hv any experience with it? Dagorian 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 met a few EQ players while checking up on my class schedule today and they told me about another program called http-tunnel that can be combined with sockscap. i just tried it out and it works... i was able to log onto wow! yay! however... the lowest ping i managed to get was 1.5k. according to the guys behind http-tunnel... you need to pay for unlimited bandwidth which would allow lower pings for wow.not the best news but making progress. And i'm a newb to all this but how do i do a port scan? i was thinking afterwards, port scan probably wouldnt work as it will scan your computer to see if your ports are open. Lyboro 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 Hmm, I've been having problems with my school network as well. Apparently too many people are downloading and so it's slow as hell (oo rhymes). But, I just run a Spybot and it found 44 spyware programs, which might have caused the problem as well. Good luck on yer internet! Dagorian 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 /sigh We just paid for the 'high-bandwidth' service thats supposedly 20 times faster than the free service. Using the free service my lowest ping ever was 1.4k (on one of my alts in teldrassil at offpeak hours lol) and normally it was way over 2k and above.With the paid servers... i've managed to get it to about 1k-ish and 1.4k if i was raiding (pve and pvp raiding) so in other words... slightly better but nothing as major as they claim it to be. /cry And still unable to play seriously.
