Damit. If I knew about this sooner, I wouldn't have unloaded a cool $3000 for my new LCD. *sigh* Oh well, guess I have to live with buyers remorse.

Plus as they wrote there they will probly only have biggger than 55'' which is a little big actually We cot a square 4*3 27'' Sony TV in our restroom and actually that's the biggest CRT Tv that can enter the room. next will be SEDs or Plasmas. cause only them will be able to get on the wall and thus no more desk for TV

Restroom? as in washroom?

Unfortunately, the electronics maker was hush-hush on pricing for SEDs and would not even venture to give us a ballpark figure for these televisions. That noted, previous reports on the technology state that it can be mass-produced on a cheaper scale than competing plasma or LCD televisions.

a den is basically a living room that is enclosed and dimly lit. living rooms tend to be open and well lit.

Why would you want a room thats not well lit... and if you want it less light turn off the lights and/or close the blinds.

And I got a den in my house. theres a room (not really a room, more like a piece of my corridor at the 2nd floor) where there's no lights (we accidentally broke the switch that was on the light) and if we turn on the lights in the rooms we dont even see much ^^'

Finally! A fixed pixel, flat panel display device that has equal contrast ratio to CRT (or better according to the article; "deepest blacks ever," Hooyahh!), no LCD "screen door" effect, and gives me no DLP color wheel migranes.

 

SED is gonna rule my world...and my wallet -- but, oh well.

CRT screens doesnt have the same contrast ratio as SEDs. Read carefully. They wanted to tell us they were building a new TV that would be better than a CRT with a contrast ratio superior to LCDs and Plasmas. CRTs doesnt have contrast ratios. (well I think they dont have). and SEDs have 1ms refresh rate... its just like or better than TVs...

All display devices have a measured contrast ratio. That being the difference between the brightest white and the darkest black. The higher the ratio -- CRT's can display a ratio of 10,000:1 or higher, meaning the black portions of the screen are at least 10,000 times darker than the white portions -- the darker and richer the colors will be, including black. Most LCD monitors show a ratio of 1000:1, thus looking a bit washed out, and never achieving "true black." Plasma does a much better job, coming in at around 5,000:1. DLP started around 2,000:1, but some of the newer rear-projection DLP sets are claiming contrast ratios up to 10,000:1, almost equaling crt.

 

Most importantly, though, you should always remember that there is no set standard in measuring contrast ratio, and therefore should remain weary of manufacturers claiming "ZOMG THE BEST CONTRAST RATIO EVER!" for their latest and greatest.

 

All these technologies are certainly improving, but SED looks mighty attractive thus far and may soon render everything else obsolete -- until holographic displays, of course.
