A lot of threads in the Raid and Dungeon WoW forums saying BWL has been nerfed and\or is easier because its not as laggy.

various excesses involving our own UI / Lua code as well as usage of our Lua infrastructure by addons.

There are things that happen during big AoE or multiple-victim attacks where blizzards of individual damage/health messages are being sent down to the client in regards to various characters in the world, and in some cases these were leading to excessive trips in and out of the Lua interpreter.

The dev team came up with ways to short-circuit and optimize a lot of this processing from the C++ side and avoid script execution overhead. (hi Slouken!)

The combat log and general scrollable-view handling has been tuned up as well - keeping the combat log hidden can gain you some FPS in these situations where many many damage reports are spewing into the log.

Update.

We didn't make any changes in Blackwing Lair. We did alter the way the Nefarian reset works, but that's about it.

We have also since gone through all our data and verified that no changes were made to any mobs hitpoints or damage output.

Please note, we did make significant improvements to performance in Blackwing Lair. We added a performance slider to your graphics options. Also, we made some changes to the way the game reacts to UI modifications which caused a huge reduction in lag for many people. When players complained about lag months ago, we made it a priority to work on the issue. We've also been warning people for quite some time now that there are some pretty inefficient UI mods out there. We'll continue to work with the mod community to help them improve their performance.

I think lag only helped if you continued to play through it. IE, you haven't seen you spell finish casting but the cast timer is up, so you jsut cast again without it visually finishing. Kind of like playing blind.
