Dagorian 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 \"The parents of a 13 year-old boy in China are suing Blizzard, claiming that their son jumped to his death while reenacting an event from World of Warcraft. Zhang Chunliang (who may be the Chinese version of Jack Thompson) is apparently supporting their lawsuit.\" He jumped to his death while reenacting an event from World of Warcraft... You know, you'd think that a 13-year-old would have the basic ability to discern reality from fiction at his age, but I guess that's asking too much of your average 13-year-old, so yeah, World of Warcraft made him do it.I'm almost thirty and I have a hard time understanding how James Bond can do all the shit he's doing and I can't. If I ever try to fly over a helicopter with a motorcycle and fail, I'm gonna blame it on James Bond. Got this article from Actiontrip.com... O.oKinda scary how some people get so involved with the game.

Snarf 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2005 Sounds like the parents just want a litle $. Thats probabaly why the kid jumped! On a serious note, it dosent surprise me that they will attempt to sue blizzard why not everyone sues anyone anyway. Thats why I think its just an attempt for money, because it just seems like another one of those cases as all the others have. Kind of reminds me of the kids shooting all the people on the freeway and blaming GTA, which is funny because they got off with being in a Juvinile Detention Center till they were 18... hmm yet GTA shows them getting arrested and brings up the fact you go to JAIL! Rodarn 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2005 they might have a case if they saw the blizzard priests using mind control. But they need proof. I say check the kids cloths and see if they lost durability.

Xinia 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 I don't know about the kid...maybe he is mentally ill, but the parents are total idiots. Maybe they need to start controlling what their child interacts with. I was horribly addicted to Wolfenstein 3-d at age 12...not once did I pick up a gatling gun and attempt to mow down every blonde-haired, blue-eyed person I saw, nor did I ever have the inclination to do so. I'm in total agreement with Snarf. Probably a publicity stunt to try to freeload a little bit of cash. Some people are greedy and illogical and they point their fingers at our video games whenever stuff like this happens. I don't blame the game...I blame his parents for not monitoring their child, who obviously has no common sense and they should have known this. Daghostmaker 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2005 I'm Johnny Come Lately on this storry but it looks like it is related to Warcraft 3, not WoW. I guess the guy is just suing where the money is. http://www.pacificepoch.com/blog/46367_0_26_0_C/ Like Xinia said, I blame the parents as well. If they didnt pay enough atttention to their kid to notice that he was losing touch with reality then they are just being grossly negligent.
