Fire Protection Pots and Rag

There's been alot of talk about + fire resist gear, and that is vital, but equally as vital are fire protection pots. We either need to a) individually find a way to bring 2 stacks per Rag day, or set up some sort of guild program to do this. It is NOT uncommon to use 3 fire protection pots in one Rag downing in order to stay alive, EVEN FOR HEALERS.

 

Honestly I do not believe there is much point in attempting and/or practicing Rag without putting our full effort into it every time we do it. If we aim to lose, we certainly will, if we aim to win, we might lose, but I guarantee it will be a much better loss than if we aim to lose.

 

This will NOT be cheap. All of you broke fellas might have to start farming. And don't think "someone else will take my spot and I can just go when they have the strat down and have killed him". We all know it doesn't work like that, and most of us have been through it. Many of you were with us when time after time we fought Luci and Mag and there was no guarantee we'd even see epics, or if we did it would be 2 or 3 at most, and the chances of receiving one were slim to none. This is that, plus a good 10-20g per run, at least.

 

If you'd rather farm herbs and have the alchemists make the pots, that's fine! Just do it, and come to the raids, and we'll down that sob sooner rather than later

I am not an herbalist on my rogue so I have started *TRYING* to farm elemental fire in Un'Goro. I could use a couple of other to help. I try to get on as soon as I get home from work as there seems to be no horde but within an hour, there are more than I can handle by myself. (which is maybe 1 on a good day) Anyway, the drop rate sucks there, but the fire guys spawn fast enought to keep me busy.

Yea i'm down with wat erlin is doing... i'm getting my alt hunter to 60 too and she's only 51 and has already made more than my druid has O.o

 

I'm saving for my epic mount and i'm pretty darn close to nailing it so after that i won't be a cheapskate anymore... i buy a lot of mana/health pots tho for MC runs and the like.

For Rag, Fire Prot Pots > Mana Pots or Health pots.

 

Anyone know how much the mats/pots are on the AH? What is most economically feasible? To farm mats, to farm money and buy mats, or to farm money and buy pots?

I think I spent about a couple gold on them back when I still needed them at Ony.

 

For a serious attempt for a guild that isn't use to taking him down or has good FR for all their members I estimate we'd all go through 2 pots per attempt, 5 attempts per raid, for a total of 400 pots per raid or 1200 a month.

 

As for farming, the hardest part is the Elemental Fire's. I can get 2-4 in an hour soloing, a dps class could probably get about 6 an hour if they don't have any down time due to horde or low health. I think a healer+dps (most likely rogue or warrior) could probably lap Fire Plume Ridge non stop with no down time and pick up 6-8 an hour. At the same time they'll also be getting Heart of Fire and Essence of Fire, both of which the guild will also need for +7 FR on Cloak enchants, Flarecore Gear, and Repair Bots.

 

I never bothered to lvl my herbalism, still at 120 I think, so I'm not sure how difficult it is to gather the Dreamfoil. I imaging if you have the add-on that remembers where you picked flowers in the past you could lap a zone constantly and get a lot without wasting too much time.

 

Considering the volume of pots necessary for serious attempts, it's probably best for people to supply their own pots. 10 a week shouldn't be too much trouble for people to farm or purchase. The guild bank can supply pots to any people that we pick up as replacements that may not have come with pots, or if anyone runs out. If people would like to contribute but don't have the time or desire to farm for Elemental Fires or Dreamfoil, they can always donate Crystal Vials. I think they run 20s a piece.

Druids can farm those fire guys in cat form with the occasional heal pretty steadily (albeit probably not as steadily as a rogue with bandages). And yes, I did it when I was resto.
