Windows 7 review....

Windows 7 has been out since September for Vendors and since October 1 for Businesses, we have the full blown version on a few machines here at work, and it's even snappier than the RC. I haven't had any issues with Vista personally so i probably won't upgrade on my home PC, but any new machines it's definitely worth it!

I upgraded my Vista machine at home about a month or so ago, and I'm noticing that WoW plays a lot better. I'm digging it.

yeah i cant wait to pick it up. i have a multiple hard drive set up, so backing up and wiping my OS drive (due to my current XP installation) won't be a problem during upgrade.

also... check out Google's Picasa program. it's a really awesome photo editing/organizing/sharing suite. it does all that and has a service like shutterfly, to make and share online albums.

If you are a student, see if your school has any partnerships with MSDN.com. My school has this program where we can get free software like Windows XP, vista, and Windows 7, as well as the server editions straight from the website with legit keys.

OMG! Tony!

And yeah... the IT kids in our school have been clamoring about getting W7 for free from the university for about 2 months.

Licensing is still too restrictive and cost to prohibitive for me. If I get it with a new machine I'll use it, but I'm pretty much a Linux whore at this point.

holla Stangypaiinnts!!

oh yea i dont know if someone posted this yet, but I'm too lazy to check.

the drop box

This basically eliminates the need to carry around a usb flash drive. You can work on a document, save it, close it, and as long as it's in the drop box folder, your other computers' drop box folder will sense a change and sync all files/folder in the drop box folder. Basically it's like mobileMe, but free.

If I didn't have to rely on virtualization for linux gaming (or wine ... /shudder) I'd be all over it too. But sadly if I want to take advantage of direct X, windows is it.

And seriously Tony, wtf?

Color me intrigued, although I'm not really excited about being a generation of directx behind. I'm still hella interested.

Count me in amongst the herd who will be queuing for a new PC just as soon as they come loaded with Win 7. The new OS widgets are secondary to obtaining a WoW box capable of >2fps in 25-man raiding... I just don't want anything to do with Vista, ever! (Especially now that it's obsolete).
