Erlin 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 are you using a dvd drive? lol im almost positive windows media player plays dvd's just fine. you're not trying to watch a blu-ray movie are you? you might also just need to download the divx player, that's free. Shadrende 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 you need a software codec to play DVDs in WMP least in XP. Power DVD comes with one and will link up to WMP.

Ecthelion 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2009 Download VLC media player, It's got a dvd decoder built into the software. It's also VASTLY superior to WMP and will play almost any video and music file. Just google VLC media player and you'll get a DL link in one of the top pages. I use this at home and love it. <3 open source Linux based tools.
Sutterkain 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 @Echthelion /Agreed Not only does VLC have a dvd codec built in, but supports virtually every video format there is. This also include ISO files so if you happen to "come across" a DVD image of a file that just so happens to make its way to your hard drive, you dont actually have to burn the movie to a disc to watch it... Great free prog.... -Sutter
