stangmeister 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2009 First house = purchased. /excited First of all, ty for the advice to everyone we've been talking to this about - it's appreciated! Second, dont make fun, it's pepto pink, but that is something easily fixed! This house sold for $208,000 in 2006, was foreclosed on last December, and we just bought it for $127,500. There is a house down the street also for sale, not a forclosure, same design going for 190,900. It may be pink, but we got it for a real steal. While we were getting it inspected, FOUR realtors came by, and the next day we came with the City to turn on the gas, two more realtors in 45 mins. Glad we acted as fast as we did! Its in a really great area, 2,500 square feet, 4 beds 2.5 baths. The rates are so low right now, on top of the housing market collapsing, it means there are some killer deals out there. PLUS - this big ol' stimulus they are debating has a 15,000 dollar tax credit for anyone who buys a home this year. You don't have to do the traditional 20% down payment mortgages, there are the "FHA" loans that only require 3.5% down. The catch is you have to pay a loan insurance fee. Ours is something like 50/month that is tacked onto the mortgage. FHA is a government agency that will insure your loan with your bank so incase you default and stop paying, the FHA will cover it. Its a great deal if you dont have 10's of thousands of dollars to put down on a house. Plus, if you do run into trouble, they do a lot to help you get out of it before getting foreclosed on. Fiordelisa 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2009 Yeah, we looked at that one...I didn't like the back yard since I have a kid and a 12 ft trampoline but otherwise it's really nice. That neighborhood is freaking awesome too, really nice swim and tennis with a fitness center.
