What would you do?

Today i went into a scarlet strat group(really need my sc shoulders). There was 2 members of descendants there, one being the leader of the group.

About halfway through, a pristine black diamond drops. One of the descendants members was a pally and used his rtu to take the diamond for his epic mount quest.

At the very end of the run, lightforge boots drop. The pally could not roll cause he already used his rtu but the leader(warrior) decides to roll saying he could use it. The leader wins but does not loot the boots. So i stay behind.

everyone in the group tps to IF but stays in the group and keeps asking the leader to pickup the boots. It seems the leader was waiting for us all to leave then he would give the pally the boots.

Finally they say "RTS". the two decendents members roll 20,30. I roll 98.

The question is, would you give it to the pally or just loot it?

I'd have sold it to the Paly for the standard 5g. That's always been the standard procedure as far as I know. It sucks the leader was going to give the item away to a friend when he RTU'd though. That shit just happens, not much you can do about it. It's a good thing you stuck around though to make sure.

yeah, he offered 10g, but i guess it was the principle of it. Plus 10 minutes after the raid ended, he had the pristine black diamond on the ah(which we all knew from the beginning would happen)

I myself haven't had many pleasant experiences with Descendents...

I would have offered to trade the boots for the diamond. Not a fair trade, but its not like they are worried about fair. If they didn't respond virtually instantly, I would leave with my boots.

The diamond never should have been RTU. Any non-equipment item that can sell for more than 20g should be RTS'd.

For what actually happened... I would have offered him to buy the LF Boots at half the going price of a pristine black diamond, especially because of how they did it. If it was a usual rts with the entire raid there, then i would do the standard 5g.

I'm not experience with this stuff in WoW, but it's the same for Everquest. If it was a pickup group and he already used up his only RTU, you should definitely loot the boots unless you work out some sort of trade agreement.

I first came into the standard 5g payout a couple weeks ago, when a tigerstrike mantle dropped off a random mob in Wetlands!! That is kinda neat.

To be honest I'd say its his lucky day.

Personally, i'd of given him his boots as well. I mean, its his set, why not just give it to him? The Rogue isn't going to use it, nor the priest. Its BOP so noones going to sell it for much. Just give it to the paladin.

he did RTU the diamond thus loot rules say he can't RTU another item unless its part of his set, but seriously the diamond should have been RTS in the first place unless its a guildie you know is going to use it.

On second thought, if I had seen the leader try to pull this stunt for his paly friend and I had then won a RTS for them I would have DE'd the stupid boots right in front of the paly!!! muahahahahaha

yeah, i told him that i would trade the diamond for the boots or he could have them for 60g. He wouldnt respond so i kept the boots.

This is what I really hate about PUGs.

I've had many dodgy experiences too... a couple of them:

On one of my scholo runs while I was hunting for my WH cowl... we had 2 hunters who probably recently ding'd 60 as they were mostly in greens and new to scholo... both of them had used their RTUs (they didnt know much and they were just there for better gear). So... we're getting close to gandling and out of the blue a dwarven hand cannon drops... naturally... we all went berserk... and in most organised PUGs i've been in, MLs hv always said that if a BOE epic drops... its RTS, period. Which i agree with.

This scenario... the hunters were probably speechless with awe and rolled immediately but our ML said 'no' their RTU had been used up. So me and another druid said that it should be RTS... but no... out MT says: "I could use it"... and uses his RTU... needless to say he gets the loot. All of us were just stunned. I told them off cos no offence... but a warrior doesnt make the most outta it... but yeah... i was ignored and no one cared... both hunters had left by then... feeling they had been cheated. I told the warrior to equip it... he said later as he had no bullets and continued to use his bow.

Oh whoops... did i say... our ML and MT were from the same guild?

I doubt he equipped it... they both logged after the run and i hvnt seen them since... definitely a ninja case though.

However... to your situation... its so easily solved for someone who could potentially get 2-3 items in a an instance. We had a priest in baron... some devout boe droppped which he rtu'd. Then later after killin rivendare he got his devout leggings as well by buying it for 5g.

But i agree... anything thats boe and worth something nice on the AH should be RTS. I make an exception for tier0 set items though... seems to be the norm.

Standard loot rules are just a guideline... a good ML will always make his rules clear apart from the usual 1 rtu per person, class priority etc etc. by adding that boes worth more than a certain amount will be rts'd or skinner who skins the beast gets +20 to his roll etc. well before the raid so everyone knows what they're getting into.
