Memphis 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2008 So tonight I was going through all of the pictures on my phone, and I thought I'd put a few of them here.. some have little stories.. some really don't.. and this is what happens when I can't sleep. http://suckonmy.org/images/thefarm.jpg This is a view (kind of blurry ><") of the Schumacher family farm from my backyard. In the mid-1800's my great-grandfather Joseph bought some land from the railroad company and settled down.. It's going into it's 4th generation of our family farmers.. My grandpa George (who I'm named after) and uncle John designed that barn.. they cut the trees.. milled the lumber.. and built it all on their own. That barn is close to 100 years old now.. and every time I look at it I remember that I come from a family that's never batted an eyelash at hard work.. and it makes me so thankful that I've gotten to be a part of that. http://suckonmy.org/images/fence.jpg This was sometime in spring.. before the trees had leaves. Why a fencepost?.. I don't know really.. It just felt right at the time http://suckonmy.org/images/hill.jpg This is going to sound strange, but this hill was a huge part of my childhood. I can't count the time my cousin and I spent up there.. playing on the rocks.. in the trees.. looking for arrowheads and anything else that might have been left behind by one of the native tribes a hundred years before. In the winter that was the best hill for sledding.. you just had to remember to lay flat when you got to the bottom.. or you'd get clothes-lined by the electric fence =P The day I took this, we decided to have a picnic up there <3 http://suckonmy.org/images/thecow.jpg How close can you get to a cow before they really notice you have a camera?.. about 7 feet away. She was grazing.. I took the picture and let her get back to eating grass. http://suckonmy.org/images/iris.jpg Oh look.. an iris! This is another one of those generational things.. something that came from my grandmother's garden and was passed along to ours. http://suckonmy.org/images/lilacs.jpg The lilacs.. I <3 them. This is part of the same bush that I ended up flying into headfirst over the handlebars of my brothers bike when I was 6.. Still have the scars on the backs of my hands to prove it =) http://suckonmy.org/images/pole.jpg While y'all were having fun at the FP summer party.. I was on a boat in the middle of a lake getting a tan and catching pole.. Yes, POLE. My first cast of the day.. I caught someone else's (rather expensive) fishing rod. It was too bizarre to not take a picture of it. http://suckonmy.org/images/fishes.jpg and that's what we ended up catching the rest of the day.. I didn't have a whole lot of time to take this one.. they kept jumping off of the cleaning table ><" Sooooo.. yeah. That's it for now =) and I'm finally tired enough to sleep. Daghostmaker 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2008 Some pretty cool phone pictures. =D My grandparents have owned a huge farm with a lake on it forever. When I was about 3 or so, they were teaching me how to fish. I had a Snoopy and Woodstock pole that was about 2 and a half feet long. Anyway, when they told me to throw my line in, I threw the whole damn thing in. WHAT?! They said to throw it in... You guys catching a fishing pole reminded me of that awesome story. Ajaxthegreat 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2008 I had a guild mate in my previous guild that would always have to take a short break during the raids to "cross the cows" from one side of his driveway to the other. I never tired of hearing "brb, crossing the cows."
