For the UFC crowd

Wow, that going to be a great fight, experience vs raw strength, I can't wait.

This also means whoever wins will most likely face the winner of Mir vs. Nogueira after the next season of the Ultimate Fighter.

Any fight with brock lesner is a good fight, win or lose. Brock lesner hasnt been fighting long, but he is getting tickets sold, hes going to be in UFC for a while.

I'm with bishop on this one. Any brock fight is a good fight, and I wouldn't say they fed him fights that he could win, they just gave him lesser known people because he is a new fighter he's 2-1 overall for godsakes with little to no outside experience. XD

Lesser known? The Texas Crazy Horse maybe, the other dude he beat sure(I have no idea who it even was), but that 1 in the Loss column was to Frank Mir in Brock's UFC debut.

Brock is definitely going to sell tickets, but I think he really needs to develop more as a fighter. He has all the tools to be a dominant ground-n-pounder but he needs more awareness of submissions, or he'll get caught like he did against Mir.

WTF?!

"It's an honor to fight Randy Couture, he's a legend in this sport, and to get the chance to test myself against him is a gift," said Lesnar. "A lot guys would love to have this opportunity, Randy is the UFC heavyweight champion. There is one goal that I've had since I started training in MMA and that is to capture the title. Now that I'm getting the chance, nothing is going to stop me. I'm walking out of the Octagon with the belt around my waist."

I'm going to assume that Brock is confused. I'd hate to think, he'd get a title fight before Mir.

Randy "The Natural" Couture will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon to defend his title against rising star Brock Lesnar

I'm pretty sure Randy Couture wouldn't be fighting unless it was a championship fight. The only way the belt wouldn't be on the line is if one of them doesn't make weight. I've never heard of a belt-holder fighting in a non-championship fight.

But I firmly believe that there are a lot of guys that deserve a title shot before Brock.

^ This... quoted twice for emphasis.

Brock is an amazingly strong dude but he has ZERO ground experience that matters. Before you scream and holler about him being a world class REAL wrestler, take a look at his last fight. Sure he won but if he had even 1 small seed of a clue about anything related to Jui Jitsu, he would have ended it in the first round. It looked like a college National Championship wrestling match which works as long as you can man-handle the guy you are fighting but I don't see it happening against someone possessing the strength and experience of Randy Couture.

Exactly, just look what Frank Mir did to him in his first fight. Brock pound on him and then has no clue what to do other than keep swinging once the fight goes to the mat. Because Brock knows nothing, he gives up his legs and Frank puts him in a knee bar and it's all over.

Frank Mir is the exception, Frank is EXCELLENT I said that many times before when I saw the card. I knew Brock couldn't win the fight just like I know he can't win this one, but that's not the point. The point was more to disprove the fact that they were feeding him easy wins. They really weren't there have been plenty of guys (Most of the cats from the ultimate fighter show that didn't win but still got to fight in the UFC) who have been fed wins to help them gain experience.

Brock has taken on some rough fights, and he's held his own, he pounded Mir but he was too inexperienced to win the fight, the fact that he gave it his best shot, and left a mark on him is proof enough of his will, and he's slowly picking up more and more skills as he fights. Who better for him to fight then one of the BEST MMA fighters I can even think of? If I was in brocks shoes I'd be so excited for this fight it's retarded. The best way to learn is to go toe to toe with the best of the best.

Dana White has been having legal problems with Randy for a while now. This is his chance to take his new stud and embarrass the champ that hasn't been willing until now to fight. Ticket sales and pride is what has driven Dana to put this fight together...

and I can't wait to see it

I'm interested in whether or not Lesnar could get caught using illegal substances ala sean sherk. Or if they would even bother testing him with the cash he is bringing in. Dudes been caught with HGH it seems, but you can't really test for that.

I didn't say easy wins. I said fights he could handle.

Sure Frank Mir was a former heavyweight champion but he was just coming back from a devastating motorcycle accident that took him out the game for a long time. He was not in top form and still won.

Heath Herring is a solid fighter but Brock hardly 'beat' him. Heath is far from a top tier fighter. His UFC record was 2-2 (now 2-3). Both his wins were by decision and on one of those, the judges were split. Aside from the very first punch of the fight (which was F&*KING AWESOME), he was taken down and basically ridden for 15 minutes. Speaking of that first punch, it was reported that it broke Herring's orbital bone and he still managed to go the distance. Much like my comment on Lesner, if he had any jiu jitsu skills at all, that fight woulda been over pretty fast.

Anyway, the TL:DR version of this post is this: Randy Couture > Frank Mir+Heath Herring

And just to wrap this post up nicely, a quote I found from an MMA news site:

"And the winner of the fight, to be held in Las Vegas, will face the victor from December's Frank Mir v Antonio Nogueira interim heavyweight title clash sometime in 2009 to be crowned undisputed champion."

BTW, the reason Couture has been having problems with Dana White/Zuffa is because, as the champ, he wants to fight the best in the world, Fedor Emelianenko. Dana couldn't/wouldn't set it up so Couture was sitting out the rest of his contract. When it expired he was going to go to Affliction to fight him. UFC sued claiming he 'owed' them something like 2 more fights so maybe this is him trying to fulfill his commitment so he can bail.

ps ILU Saucebby. I like Lesner and think he could be pretty formidable but until he learns some passable jiu jitsu, he will never be more than Tank Abbott to me. He'll win some fights but he won't be a serious threat to the more rounded fighters at the top of the class.

Oh no dude by all means I totally agree all the way. He's worthless till he gets more skill, my point is that he has the dedication to learn, and it's been proven by how hard he tries. Even when he knows he got caught he didn't just tap immedately if I remember right.

Also there's alot more then just the wanting to fight the best. He also is pissed that people are making way more money then him. He also signed up for 3 more fights, there's alot going on in the world of Couture that isn't being made public because the UFC isn't trying to flame him, but Zuffa is raping him for money.
