shameless self-promotion

so, the ban thing.

 

in may, i decided to try to sell my account. i wasn't playing anymore and i had no intention of devoting the time to play ever again. soooo i got on one of the zillions of chinese websites and talked to some "representative" over their IM (before anyone pulls a race card, i know they were chinese because i had to talk to them on the phone, the accent is pretty distinct). they said they would have to change the email and password in order to look at the account and verify the info about gear that i gave them. they did, and said they would send payment within a half hour. this process from start until now took FIVE HOURS. they had to CALL and talk to me and ask me a hundred goddamn questions and their IM person responded so amazingly slow. by this point it's 1030 at night and i have to work tomorrow. i ask them over IM if they can hurry it up a little bit because i'm tired. their response: we can't buy this account, it isn't safe.

 

..... fwah?

 

so i ask them what that means and they're all i can't tell you we just can't buy it. so i get all the info changed back to what it was before and THEN change it all again: email, password, everything... just to be good and damn sure they weren't going to try to steal it out from under me.

 

the next day i get an email that my account was banned. i don't look into it at all because i don't care, i don't want the account back. i think nothing of it, just figuring that blizzard took notice to all the email/password changing.

 

3 months later~

 

i'm in line at the drive thru and this number keeps calling my phone. the third time it calls, i answer. some dude is like "do you have a wow account" and i say that i used to, but don't anymore. he's all "is the account name [insert my account name here]" and i'm like uhhh yes, but how and why do YOU know that? he says he bought my account from a company months ago and has been playing lemon and bonsai. the company stole the account from him and told him that *I* was trying to take it from him and gave him my name, email address, street address, and phone number. i told him that i had no idea what in the hell was going on, i hadn't thought about the account in months because i assumed it was banned. i was more than a little pissed that these people were just passing out my personal information and blaming me for the account being taken back. i tell him i'm sorry but i'm not making any efforts to get the account back because i don't care. he says he paid $375 for it and they told him i was taking it back because i didn't give the company their money back (wtf?). i tell him they never gave me shit, and now i know they stole my account from under my nose.

 

when i got home i armory'd bonsai and lo and behold there she was, still in her black swashbuckler's shirt and a whole bunch of t4 that the dude had gotten for her. he must have changed lemon's name, because i couldn't find her. the next business day i called blizzard, because i was super confused about my account NOT actually being banned. the guy i talked to said my account had never been closed and that they had never sent me any such email about being banned. i asked him if the account could BE banned voluntarily. he goes on to say that the account had actually been banned 3 days ago, right after i got the call from the dude. he says it was banned for manipulating game economy or whatever, which makes sense i suppose since it'd passed hands a couple of times at this point. the only way to get it unbanned is to send a copy of my driver's license, which i'm not going to do because i don't care. he assured me that the account will actually be banned and stay banned now.

 

SO. that's pretty much it. now lemon and bonsai will be left to rot on tichondrius forever, and some poor nerd is out $375. the lulz of it all is now i'm ready to sell my AOC account that's got free playtime for life on it. i already went and changed all of my personal information to a bunch of fake crap in case some random guy decides to heckle me while i'm trying to get my mcdonald's on again.

 

p.s. what you don't see in those latex shots is the 3 shots of tequila i slammed down to give me the courage to rip that crap out of my arm hair. it was srsly not cool

Only $375? The scammers on Craigslist were selling both Flashburn and my accounts with us even knowing about it and at one point i had an offer of $800. Had to type " /dnd NO i am NOT selling my account tyvm" every time i logged on for a month.

Very tempting. Depends on the price. I have an account right now, but the prospect of not having to pay monthly fees while Funcom tries to fix all the bugs would be nice.
