Threat

Recommended Posts

Ok I was reading stuff on one of he links recommended www.tankspot.com and I king of undersatnd that you generate more threath with a faster weapon. So do I generate more threat with The decapitator 92.1 DPS, 27 crit rating, 2,6 speed or with Honor's Call 81,1 DPS, 13 stamina, +16 def, + 8 hit rating but 1,8 seconds speed.

Better speed with Honor's Call but less DPS. Which one should I use?

After this I'm officially retiring from warrior questions :)

It really doesn't matter too much either way when it comes to weapon DPS for tanking because more than anything you'll want the tanking stats over the damage stats. Now if you're a big badass, you go for DPS threat tanking, IE a two-hander, obviously in Zerker stance ;)

Assuming that you've got a healer with the stones to handle it.

To be honest, I used to play a game: to see if I could make you shit your pants by holding off on the heals when you did crap like that. Loved you squealing like a girl. ^ ^

I hate you guys haha

In Kara, I would stun the target and run away until I got heals.

I don't know anything about warrior tanking, but my assumption ( concidering every "tanking" weapon is fast ) that they are prefered for threat generation.

For warrior tanking I've heard fast is better, also keep in mind that with a slow weapon, if you miss get parried/dodged/blocked that you have to wait extra time for the next swing, and heroic strike is based on weapon speed itself right? it's not instant?

Fast weapon = consistent threat.

If you miss with a 1.5 speed you will hit again in 1.5 seconds. That means there is only 3 seconds total since you last created white damage threat.

If you miss with a slower weapon, say 3.6 speed. That means it will be a gap of 7.2 seconds before your next white damage threat.

The rest of the raid can create a LOT of threat in 7.2 second. And god forbid if you miss a second time...

So I will stick with Honor Call even though it has lower DPS, but much faster speed= . It is very clear to me now. Thank you very much guys. :miner:

Devastate hits harder with a slower weapon and will therefore produce more threat with [item]Mallet of the Tides[/item] than with [item]Edge of Oppression[/item].

Faster weapons will produce threat quicker, but won't provide as much burst threat.

You should be using Shield Slam at every opportunity anyways, which is your best threat generator, so look more for stats than speed.
