New Monitor

So i'm looking to get a new monitor to hook up to my laptop cuz im pretty sick of staring at this little screen all the time.

I was wondering if any of the FPers work for any computer companies and would be able to find me a good deal on a 24 inch + monitor

Doesn't have to be the greatest newest flatscreen... i dont really need to save space so all i really care about is the picture quality and if its going to last more than a few years.

Thanks <3

do you reaaaally need a 24 inch monitor? And if you want a good price the resolution is gonna be lower. I have a 20 inch monitor on my desktop, but it's only rockin 1440x900, which is sad for 20 inches. My laptop which has a 17 inch screen is rockin 1920x1200 or some retarded thing like that. It's REALLY nice though :3

I have a 19 inche monitor from LG it is called Flatron Slim with 2ms refresh and 1600:1 Contrast. It is a beauty so great and inexpensive. It is worth going to flatscreen technology.

But no, you don't have to spend that much to get a decent one; I've heard great things about Samsung 22" in the $300 range.

Oh, and OMG AIGLE! 2MS response time?! How much did that set you back?

BenQ 24"

Just saw this on Newegg... just troll there for good deals. I think I spent like $600 on mine, but you can spend less and still get a very nice monitor. I wouldn't bet on finding a 30" in your price range, it seems like price increases exponentially with size.

2ms is not good as a refresh time?

No, it's great! Most run in the 5-6ms range.

DO NOT GET BENQ - They are ass wrapped in plastic and LCD cover. We had them at my last job broke all the time.

Samsung or Dell is the way to go.

Samsung has the best picture for the money imo, Dell has nice screens too at a good cost.

Don't go for a cheap big monitor, go for a nice, medium size (19"-24")

I can't speak for the "new" 24" Dell, the 2408WFP because they changed the LCD panel from my 2407WFP. But, if you can find a 2407WFP go for it. I paid $630 for mine with some stacked coupons and free shipping back when it was new. The 2408WFP is $680 now, so with coupons you should be able to get it pretty cheap.

Avoid any "E" model Dell monitors, they are the budget models and have subpar panels, you are better off looking at other brands.

Yeah im not going to buy anything that is super cheap and is going to break on me, thats just a stupid waste of cash.

I'll look into a Dell because you guys seem to be giving them a good amount of praise.

As it so happens, mine *is* the new 2408WFP and I don't think you'll be disappointed!

The contrast ratio is amazing, the screen can reach super high/bright color settings and the blacks stay black ( /gangsigns @ honki) even in full darkness.

We buy a lot of our screens from Samsung.

Don't know if they still do this, but I believe Dell has used actual Samsung lcd panels in their monitors before.
