Oxymoron, -noun, plural-: a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect. Example: Canada winning. or, Canada wins. or, CN Tower is a skyscraper.

Seriously, that thing only has like 3 habitable floors, thats no tower, its a radio antenna w/ an observer deck.

What Bishop is really trying to say is that in addition to it being the Worlds Largest Building, it also has recieved other awards.

World's highest public observation gallery - Sky Pod at 447 m (1,465 ft.)

World's highest bar - Horizons Café at 346 metres (1,136 ft.)

World's longest metal staircase - 2,579 steps

World's highest glass floor - 342 metres (1,122 ft.)

World's highest and largest revolving restaurant - 351 metres (1151 ft.)

World's highest 'wine cellar' - 351 metres (1151 ft.)

This just in...

China has announce they will be adding additions to Tuntex Sky Tower.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b3/Tuntex_Sky_Tower_Kaohsiung_Taiwan.jpg

The additions will consist of 2 arms, a head, and Genghis khan's entire cavalry unit.

And yes, it will fight decepticons.

we win

No you don't!

The CN tower is not the tallest free standing structure any longer (side note, there are still a couple non free standing structures that have long been taller than the CN Tower), nor is that first list of tallest buildings correct. The Burj Dubai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burj_Dubai) surpassed 101 in February and it surpassed the CN Tower this month. It is almost 1,900 ft and still under construction. Supposedly it will be over 2,600 ft tall when complete, making it 40% taller than any other building. It will probably hold that record for at least a decade as no other building under proposal that I know of surpasses 2k ft

Bishop, there is hope though. The Freedom Tower will be close to the top when complete, over 1,800 ft tall. And multiple projects in NYC, Boston, and Chicago will be 1,600+

p.s. Im a closet architecture geek and keep track of these sorts of things. >.

p.s.s. That pic of the CN tower is incorrect. It isn't a building because a building must consist primarily of occupied space to be considered a building. The CN Tower is nothing more than a glorified TV antenna. Get over it Canucks. No one gives a damn about your concrete pole.

Future american super skyscrapers:

Freedom Tower: 1,800 ft - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_tower

Crown Las Vegas: 1,800 ft - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crown_Las_Vegas

Chicago Spire: 2,000 ft - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Spire

yes, but we still have 4 more buildings on that list than canada, which has zero. Ofcourse it would be difficult to build an igloo that tall, so I'll cut you some slack.

The tower going up in Dubai I thought was going to be the biggest ever?

aye

and its almost done, but it was engineered by americans (like 90% of all skyscrapers), so its still like half ours.

I prefer my buildings easy to get out of in an emergency, we should just build lots of small buildings instead.

Laugh at the CNT all you want, but the fact of the matter is that none of you has ever climbed an 1800 foot tall tower by taking the stairs, unlike all torontarians, to whom it is a right of passage =P

Also a sidenote i just thought of: a few years back a man in a wheel chair climbed to the top of the CNT using the stairs

Any of you fast-food-eating americans want to volunteer? =P

I'm guessing he was in that wheel chair by choice.
