Vanin broke both my legs once. Once.

I removed the "www." in my bookmark, and it seems to work now, thanks Lyssa!

OMG and you got me all excited for this weekend. If my final project doesn't interfere, I'll be there. Besides, Vanin will probably just kidnap me regardless.

/palmface I expect better of you.

Or I could not have to hit that button...

Wow, I'm suprised you can remember that much...

Provided they can muster more than 2 or 3 good bands (fat chance) I might go endure the hell that is ozzfest for free. Too bad they will still charge $13 for a bottle of water.

As far as overnight charges go, I was under the impression that most hybrids / electrics currently available didn't include the feature to be plugged directly into a wall outlet. I saw a special on discovery where a guy modded his prius to allow it, as well as added battery banks to let the car function with only electric drive at low speeds. Pretty good idea IMO, although far from a performance car xD.

Don't forget obscene charging times. It's fine for tooling around town; once we have cars that can be plugged into a wall outlet, no prob, let it sit overnight and you are good to go. Want to go on a road trip? Better plan to have a charging station at a hotel. There is the possibility of using supercaps and charging them with a very high voltage, not so high amperage (to allow the use of typical electrical infrastructure; charging at a low voltage would require a current draw far beyond what current setups are designed for) to reduce charging times dramatically. This hinges on caps with enough capacity to function as batteries, however. I guess you could use both and have the caps charge the batteries while you are driving, but thats more weight being tacked on. I think weight is just as important as size here... you can get creative with size. Gel packs will allow you to put little batteries all over the place, taking up any odd-shaped void available. Weight, until we have some advances in battery chemistry and whatnot, isn't malleable.

More like 12 minutes. And show me a convenient way to refuel your electric supercar : P Producing a street viable electric car with the performance of the Veyron or any other current IC supercar isn't feasible unless you minimize weight due to energy storage. Not happening with current fuel cell / battery tech. And considering track cars, how long do you think an F1 car would last with electric power? lawl.
-
I'm sure it could smoke a Veyron... and be out of juice in a matter of minutes. The real problem is energy storage, and barring a sudden breakthrough, its a problem that will exist for a long time. If you like that Ariel, you should check out the KTM X-Bow. I think the Ariel might edge it out in the power / weight ratio but it looks badass nontheless.

I saw the thread title and thought you were talking about something else Stanger.

Show me road worthy electric car that can smoke a Bugatti Veyron. (0-62 in 2.5 seconds, what?) Oh wait, you can't. The Tesla doesn't come remotely close. To say that current electric supercars pwn IC engines isn't accurate. Give it a few years, then they will. As far as a certain company (EESTOR) developing a new type of supercapacitor that will solve all energy storage problems... they have been way too secretive to have a working product, their patent filing looks very suspicious (it looks like a sales flyer)... basically, it looks bogus as hell, and it wouldn't suprise me one bit.

Where are my pancakes...
