  1. The principle behind this thread leads to one simple question:

"What kind of guild do we want to be a part of?"

I've been a part of FP for a very limited scope of time in comparison to everyone above that has posted.

That being said, in the short time I've been a part of this guild, the answer for FP seems to be....... *shrug*....?

    Let me explain that perspective.

When I joined back in September of last year, things were very different in WOW and FP. Not just that ICC (or even TOC for matter) wasn't around. There was no daily dungeon system, daily heroics were still available, Ony could still be 5 manned, red proto acheivements were spammed at meeting stones before you started VH, UK, UP, etc., ad nauseum.

Being FP at that time also meant that you understood that we were NOT a Hardcore Raiding guild. We wanted to run Ulduar for the 2 Triumph Emblems each week, not because we wanted a full clear or to knock out 2 or 3 Hard Modes. We enjoyed raiding because we joked around and had fun and if we wiped 2 or 3 times, it was only that much more satisfying when the boss had his nose in the dirt. :woot:

Although some people might disagree with me next, I was very happy when TOC came out. Yeah it was basically farming epics. That was Blizzard's point. 5 boss drops, simple fight mechanics, and as long as everyone paid attention, people started getting geared quickly so when ICC opened in a few months, we were better prepared. It tied into the content and the literal fact that you needed the gear to be prepared to storm the citadel.

Once ICC opened, things changed almost immediately. I know this because that Tuesday was my birthday (Dec. 8th). We started becoming more concerned about progressing almost immediately. I don't know if it was a sense of overconfidence after TOC being on farm, watching other guilds clearing the wings that we weren't, seeing a piece of loot on someone in Dal that made everyone drool, or just 5 years of pent up GNERD rage to finally see LK in the ground. Some of our more "hardcore" raiders became more disgruntled about our lack of progression and were not shy about expressing those feelings in Vent. Some have moved on and some have stayed. Sometimes its been gracious, sometimes its been ugly.

As Sutter said, we all have our good days and bad, different ideas about what a "guild" should be, and there are just going to be people with different points of view. Once again, that's the POINT. We joined a Guild not the Gestapo. We want to play with people that, if not considered at least friends, we're comfortable with each other, toons, and abilities.

Now with Random Dungeons, Random BG's, and Weekly Raid Quests that can be pugged, there is less of a dependency on raids to get anything short of end game items.

    Now comes the hard question.

"What do we want TO DO?"

IF (and I'm going to explain that IF) we want to to see a screenshot of LK dead on the forums, we need to step up our game as a guild. EVERYONE needs to know the fights (not listen to a rushed explanation 5 mins before pull, this is still end-game content ATM), come fully prepared, give a 110%, and SHOW UP on raid nights. If we have an attendance problem, we might want to consider posting Raid Signups on the forums again or in game.

That's IF we want to raid. No one should feel committed to raiding since, as was said before, we are not a hardcore guild. That feeling seemed to be expressed more than once during the guild meeting in vent 2 weeks ago. People have real lives (shocking I know  ) and other commitments. We play WOW for fun. For some people, that is about progression and loot. For some, it may be as simple as sitting in Dal AFK on Vent for 2 hours shooting the breeze or catching up with friends.

IMO in simplest terms, the choice is Column A or Column B. Do we want to raid as a guild or not? Period. In the meeting, some people expressed that 25mans are not going to fit in their schedule for awhile. Several others in the guild are obviously still interested from what I have heard in the last few weeks, whether it be for progression, gear, or content.

IF we don't what to wait for another 2 months to find a pug with an average gs of 5900+ and have the ICC buff hit 20% to down LK, then we need to accept the reality that he cant be killed when he pops up in TOC or HOR. We (and by we I mean all 25 in the raid and the guild who want a Kingslayer Title) need to accept that we ARE going to wipe prolly an average of 5 times on each boss before they go down. We ARE going to need show up at least 2 nights every week for at least 2 hours and be willing to work through the rough nights with different encounters and the dreaded "L" word.

Once again, I'm not posting this to make anyone feel guilty or compelled to come back and raid. I'm also not posting this to point fingers at any of our leadership in specifics or general.

I'm posting this because, like Sutter, I'd like to see FP survive and prosper.

    Ok done rambling now. :thanks:

  2. Regarding the strat I was referring to last night at the start of the raid here is the link to the clip and the dbs encounter via wowhead:

    http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=37813#saurfang-normal-25-player

Personally I think the tankspot strat works with the boomkin, we were just not executing fully as some of the things mentioned in the clip (and by Xiaolin as well) we did not execute as you will see if you watch and LISTEN to the whole clip.

Beyond what X mentions, I think the blood beasts have a much larger melee range than some people expected (possibly a cleave also??) which amped the rp last night so quickly and there just needed to be more cc going off.

Yes i admit i missed 1...? frost trap cd last night ok :whoops:

  3. lol slipped that right in! I was going to pick up 2 authenticators but when i saw the ipodtouch one, i only bought the one for my sister. im getting the mobile one for mah itouchybobdealything. I assume you dont have to be onlnine with the ipodTouchmyself for the authentictor to work?? I'm glad i dont have to carry around another giant keychain things.

not trying to hijack the thread but does anyone use the mobile armory app for iphone/ipod touch? its's so awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! =D

Just had to add that I HIGHLY recommend the IPhone/IPod Authenticator App since:

    1. It's FREE!

    2. It sends a new code every 30 SECONDS to your device instead of the one time code you get otherwise. This makes your account basically unhackable.

    3. You still get the pet (and did i mention it's FREE  )

One word of caution using this app (as I already went through this a couple of months ago :( ):

If you want to stop using this app for any reason, you have to go to battle.net and disable it first. DO NOT JUST DELETE THE APP FROM YOUR DEVICE! If you do, or if you device CRASHES (like my IPhone did), you will need to call Blizz Support to have them remove the authenticator from your account. You won't be able to log into WOW until this is complete. No biggie but I was on hold for an hour before I got transferred to someone who could resolve the issue.

Once again, highly recommend this to protect your account if you can get it. Feel free to message me in game with any questions. Thanks.

  4. Happy Birthday Zoar hope you have a awesome day which I know you will cause its Patch day Buahahaha <3

Thank You Very Much everyone and hopefully the servers will come back up soon :)-

P.S. Serenitty - I don't think you will ever be able to say or spell my name right but I'll let it slide since you always give me third or fourth invite on raid nights. :)-

  5. worst hunter ever please do not let anymore of my friends in the guild this is where i go to escape from them

You know I remember a day a few months back (before I foolishly transferred) with you, me, and Sutter in front of Darnassus where the three of us dueled. Remind me, how did it end between you and me O? :)

  6. 1. RL Name: Jeff (but everyone calls me Lurch)

    2. Age: 31

    3. Main Character's Name: Zaor

    4. Class: Hunter

    5. Level: 80

    6. Alts (class, name, level): none above lvl 10

    7. Previous Realm (if not from Skullcrusher): Haomarush (left and came back to Skullcrusher when I regained my sanity)

    8. Name of your last and/or current guild: Blood of the Horde on Haomarush

    9. Reason for leaving that guild: guild never raided and had an easier time getting 5 man pugs than getting 5 guildies to run

    10. Reason for wanting to join FP: Short term = Grind 5M Heroics for Emblems to get geared for 10 and possibly 25 down the road. Long Term = HAVE FUN RUNNING WITH RL FRIENDS AND GUILDIES ON A CONSISTENT BASIS AGAIN!

    11. FP Sponsor (say "None" if you have none): Sutterkain (1 or 2"n's" lol), Gromsghost

    12. Does this sponsor know you IRL or in-game? Sutter in person (prolly sometimes wishes he doesn't lol) and and Grom through Sutter

    13. Do you own a Dartol's Rod of Transformation? If you do not, please explain why. If you don't know what it is or how to get it, click the link: Never completed the quest line so I can get it.

    14. Anything else you would like to say about yourself: (this is your chance to show us your personality, fill it in)

I started playing WoW casually and then fell out early (first twink, a rogue, never went past 30). I regret that to this day since I missed a LOT of content. Got back into it about 3 months before BC came out and have been grinding since. Done 10 man OS and Naxx once and have never been in 25 man. Willing to be patient and learn whatever necessary and get geared to get in 25s in the future. Not expecting to be full T9 anytime soon but would be happy with 2 pieces by the time Cataclysm comes out :) Unemployed ATM so time to play fairly abundant.
