  1. I think I posted last fall when my father bought it for me that I had a Corvette to work on all winter, as my graduation present. Well, it's finally (almost) finished! New paint, a little body work, new carpets, and a little work to the interior... Once I learn to drive it, it'll certain qualify for some purple text.

  2. If it's any kind of encouragement, my father and I built my current desktop, and neither of us have a clue beyond reading the instructions that came with all the stuff. My only complaint about it is that we failed to hook up a couple of the extras that would be nice to have (temperature monitor and front-of-case USB/headphone/speaker inputs), but it works pretty well. We only had one real problem, and that was fixed with my laptop and Google.

  3. If you go to college (or know someone who does), check the college computer store. I got my copy of Windows XP through the school for like $8 when I built my computer. I think most colleges have deals with Windows so students can get free XP/Vista/Office software, since it's more or less required for any college program.

  4. Because I don't feel like making a new thread, I'm just gonna resurrect my old intro thread to post a picture of my new baby.

When I was choosing a college, I really really wanted to go to Penn State, but since I'm not from Pennsylvania, tuition was rather high and they do not offer scholarships to freshmen. My father promised me that if I went to an in-state school, to which I had a substantial scholarship, he would buy me a Corvette. So finally, 4 years and many arguments later, I finally have my car!

It's a 1973 Stingray, T-top, 4-speed with a 454 big block engine. As you can see, it needs some cosmetic (and other) help, so that's our project this winter, and someday I hope to have the money for a full frame-off restoration (we have all the original parts, although a couple of them are not currently in the car). I'm going to start stripping the paint when I get home for Winter Break, and hopefully it will be a lovely bright yellow by spring. I do plan to take pictures of the entire process, so if anyone's interested in seeing those, let me know.

And yes, I look thrilled in that picture, I know. This was like the fourth try, squinting into the sun, so you'll have to forgive me looking grumpy. :P

  5. I'll support Zinch too, we were in Brethren together for like... ever. He's not much trouble (usually  ) and I think he'll fit in here. His raid times are kind of crappy at the moment, but there's always room for friends somewhere!

  6. If you have the title, you keep it, but the ability to get it is going to be gone. At least that's what I got from everything I've read.

And both Champion of the Naaru and Hand of A'dal are achievements.

  7. I find myself one quest away from completing my BC attunements, and the titles (and achievements) that go with them. Unfortunately, that one quest requires a 25 man raid that barely anyone does at this point, and the opportunity will be gone with Tuesday's patch. Since I've had no luck finding a Mag group so far this week on my own, I'm asking for a little help from you guys. I would hate to lose out on an achievement that I am so close to, so if anyone knows of a group or would be willing to help me run one, it would be much appreciated.

  8. 1. RL Name: Amy

    2. Age: 21

    3. Main Character's Name: Breaca

    4. Class: Druid

    5. Level: 70

    6. Alts (class, name, level):

Aelwyn (70 hunter – will also be leveled in WotLK), Helaine (54 paladin – working on leveling her so I can mine stuff), Eleka (50 mage – also working on leveling her), one of every class below 20

    7. Previous Realm (if not from Skullcrusher):

My friends conned me into rolling here when I started.

    8. Name of your last and/or current guild:

    Vindictive

    9. Reason for leaving that guild:

I joined them after FP stopped raiding, because my goal in the game was to see Illidan and clear BT. Now that my schedule is not going to allow me to raid on a set schedule, I feel that Vind is no longer the best guild choice for me.

    10. Reason for wanting to join FP:

I came to FP after I left Brethren a few months ago, and I loved the atmosphere. Everyone is friendly, and usually entertaining, so it’s a fun place to hang out.

    11. FP Sponsor:

Memphis, anyone else who would like to vouch for me from last time

    12. Does this sponsor know you IRL or in-game?

I know all of them only from the game.

    13. Do you own a [Dartol's Rod of Transformation]?

I went out and got it especially for you guys.

    14. Anything else you would like to say about yourself:

I am a college student in Buffalo, NY (yes, it is very cold here, and yes, I like hockey). I am in my senior year as an English major and am in the process of applying to medical school. My main hobby is WoW, although I spend a lot of time reading as well. I play a few console games as well as a few other PC games. I also knit and crochet (dorky, I know, but at least it’s productive), which really passes the time while waiting for those with real rezzes to do their jobs after a wipe.

My friends convinced me to start playing this game and I got it for myself for Christmas in 2005. My first character was my hunter, but around level 8 my friends decided they needed a druid for their guild, so Breaca was born. She’s been my main ever since, and now I can’t imagine playing any other class. The versatility of a druid is great, and I feel like playing only one spec is a waste of the potential of the class. That’s why I do my best to keep a second set of gear that is on par with the content I am doing. I chose tank gear for that second set for the reason that tanking and healing are usually the hardest positions to fill and I want to be as useful as possible in any situation. I still haven’t figured out how to do both at once though.

Minimum Requirements: All accounted for, although my connection has the occasional issue when I’m not at school (i.e., during school breaks) but I can always at least post if I won’t be able to play. Living in the boondocks has its disadvantages.

    14. What instances you are keyed for?

I believe I’m keyed for everything that one can possibly be keyed for. I have the Hand of A’dal title as well.

    15. How long have you been raiding and what experience do you have?

Pre-BC I raided all of MC (full Tier 1 still in my bank) and most of BWL, and I must have done some part of one of the AQ instances (I have the mount), all with Sentinels of Frostrune. Post-BC I have done full clears of Hyjal and BT and have done attempts on the first three Sunwell bosses, although have not downed any of them. I have healed everything and have done some tanking in BT and Hyjal.

    16. Spec & Gear:

I have both resto and feral gear (my resto set is better, since it’s my main raiding spec, but my tanking gear is also respectable). When healing changes to spellpower, I will probably be able to go balance without failing miserably as well.

I plan on being resto/balance after the patch and into WotLK, although I would like to keep a feral spec on hand as well if/when Blizzard implements the ability to have dual specs.

    17. Reference(s) from your previous guild(s):

It wasn’t so long ago that I was here that you can’t remember, was it?

    18. Are you more of a Hardcore gamer or a Casual gamer?

I’m definitely much more hardcore while I’m at college (as opposed to at home), since this is the one real hobby that I have while I’m there, but I’d still say I’m on the casual side of hardcore without being totally casual (if you know what I mean). I play every day when I can, although I spend a lot of my “play” time just chatting or hanging out with people in-game. I’m not hardcore enough to say “WoW > RL,” so RL always has to come first, even when it’s homework and I don’t want to do it. For me, the big draw of this game is the social part of it, which is why I am drawn to raiding more than solo play or PvP.

That said, however, I anticipate my schedule to force me into a much more casual role soon. I am in the process of applying to medical school, so that will take a lot of my time, and once I get in, that will become my entire life.

    19. Approximate playing schedule:

Fairly open right now, although subject to change at any time. I will do my best to keep those in charge informed of when I will or will not be available, and when level 80 gets closer, I will have to evaluate my position and decide what to do from there. I’m hoping that once things get busy I will still be able to play a couple nights a week, but I can’t promise anything, and it is something that I will discuss with my class leader (or whoever) when the time comes.

    I <3 you guys!

Oh, and to Memphis and my other fellow pirates: Yarrrrr! :pirate:

  9. That's what I was afraid of, Memphis. Let me know what you find out with the other pirates and the turnins.

I suppose I could do it on an alt instead, if the pets become sharable account-wide, and still end up with the pet for Bre... right?

Edit: Memphis, or someone who's done the pirate rep, try something for me. I read that you can do the giant zapping quests in Feralas near the dock to Feathermoon for 25 rep per turnin with all Steamwheedle Cartel factions. Not sure if this is more efficient than killing pirates, but it's not supposed to give negative Bloodsail rep, so in theory you could be friendly to both.
