I love this guy. Man, just, yeah I love it.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.h...96435&sid=1

This guy is a tank asking for help on Prince. It's a legendary thread almost overnight. To quote him:

They tell him to spec prot:

I'm going to have to pass on the respecing tip. If Blizzard testers can down this boss with having any talent points, than I can do that with limited talent points in Prot.

Are there any other tips for spotting infernal?

In my view if I get hit with a double crushing blow regardless of I respec or not I'm still dead. Why waste gold? I've tanked everything else in this raid as this sepc and as full protection. There was very little difference when I respeced back to arms/prot.

Some tell him that sure he CAN kill prince being that spec, but if you're just learning it it'll take forever. His response:

I guess I'll wait for the moons to move into place. I'm not respecing to changea few things and give me very little more survivability than I already have.

Double Crushing blow=Me still dead.

ALL THIS ON PAGE ONE!

Much more on the actual thread. Maybe it's cause I am high on pain killers, but I love it. =P

Ha! Improved Shield block is probably the MOST important ability for a tank to have. If I had to pick one, that would be it.

GG, fellah.

Also, someone should tell him that a little bit can go a LONG way in this game.

Its a Blizzard catch 22.

I'm not respeccing just because Blizzards mechanics require a Warrior to spec prot in order to do a raid encounter. And the unfortunate flip side of that is raid leaders don't fill DPS spots with warriors. No other class really has this dilemma.

well warriors can actually have amazing dps if you give them the right group setup.

If I were a raid leader I would make sure to bring one arms warrior to every raid encounter for Blood Frenzy. Increasing all Melee dps by 4% is a huge amount of damage. Currently we're bringing 8 physical dps classes to every encounter (not including feral druids)

I'd suggest having a semi permanent offtank with a spec similar to this:

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=TAhczAb0McbZVZbEtohM

The heroic dungeons have a very odd set of items that are sort of a hybrid DPS/Tank set. Here is one of the pieces [item]Spaulders of Dementia[/item] Damage should be signifigantly higher than a straight up Prot Tank, while the tank should still be able to hang in there well enough to do some off tanking.

The last few rare times I've been able to tank with you guys I've worn this very same mix of DPS an Tanking items. I feel that I was able to lend much more help like this than I would have been able to with my normal tank gear.

For void reaver, I was still near the bottom of the dps meters, but I was still higher than the other tanks despite the fact that I was rage starved the entire encounter.

That post was hilarious, and then I found myself getting incredibly frustrated with his stubbornness. But it was still very funny.

Also, I think DPS warriors are very situational. For Kara, it makes little since to have one because of the 10 man limit, and if you aren't farming the place you really need a tank. However, with 25 mans there appears to be more use for them. With fights like Lurker, where you really only need 1 or 2 tanks, then there is little point to having excess tanks so a DPS warrior is a nice bonus. Tank some on those 9 pack pulls, and DPS the boss. I'm sure the same can be said for fights like Leothas and Tidewalker, which lack the need for a ton of tanks. However, a fight like Void Reaver seems like it would be difficult for a DPS warrior to succeed. We have some feral druids and a pally that do a good job of tanking when needed which seems to help free up a DPS warrior spot as well. And oh yeah, we normally only have 2 prot warriors so the third one to sign up is more than likely a DPS warrior or the spot goes to more DPS. We have found ways around carrying all prot warriors it appears, and it seems to be working fairly well.

Omg, Gryph, you've lost your touch. Seriously, 3/3 in Imp Rend?! :) Last time I used rend I think it ticked for 36. And going that far in arms you gotta get MS.

MS-OT Except I'd use the 4 points in 2handed for a weapon spec or 5/5 Iron Will and 2/2 Overpower. You could also tilt it a bit on the Tank side and drop the 5/5 crit for Imp Bloodrage and Shield Mastery.

I had to put points somewhere to let me get deep enough for blood frenzy... I figured since rend will be up at all times to keep Blood Frenzy up, you might as well get a tiny bit more dps out of it. (As opposed to some of the other talents that don't really lend themself to PVE that well)

And yeah, I thought about MS as well, but my ideal spec for ME, would still involve sword and board a lot of times. I won't be mortal striking much then :-P I'm shooting to still be a tank, but more of a utility tank than a MT.

I've been to a couple raids of late and have Blood Frenzy along with keeping battle shout on the rogues....Im not sure how much their dps went up but maybe they could chime in and you could see if its worth it. To be honest I would think having a fury warrior would be really helpful for most raiding groups. My gear definitely isnt bad but its obviously more pvp oriented and with my spec, using a 2h, and it being a mace my dps isnt anywhere close to the rogues.

I'd really like to try a 17/44/0 build and go duelwield and see what kind of damage I could put out in a group with say 2 rogues and 2 beast master hunters or with windfury. I think improved battleshout for the rogues and the hunter pets along with the damage a fury warrior could put out would push raid dps up significantly. Maybe if I get into some karas or with season 3 ill pick some weapons up and see how it goes.

honestly, if they fix the hunter mana issues like they say they are, i think we won't need shadow priests as much. so we can then actually help the melee out as well, so like beorn said we can have like 2 hunters 2 rogues and him.

On a related note, its nice to see some discussion on how we can make our raids better as a whole. Individual contributions add up to a significantly more successful raiding experience. If everyone took some time to think about how they could help the group as a whole, we could experience even more success.

Good job to those of you folks that do this every day!

The night we downed Maulgar I had switched to Arms-fury (Imp BS, Blood frenzy) without saying anything and the rogues said they noticed the difference.

so i think beorn should raid as a dps warrior, and he should get some vortexes. this is all pve, it has NOTHING to do with the fact he's on my arena teams >.>

I agree with beorn, for raids a Fury warrior > arms for the fact that they can actually DPS and NOT pull aggro.

Seems with arms they just get a few big hits in and then its TKO. Same with Ret pallys for some reason. RH would be 11th on meters but 1st on aggro.

We don't need any fixes to our mana and we don't need shadow priests either. What we do need is the ability to have a paladin in melee range during all boss fights to keep Wisdom Judged at all times. Hunters gain more from that judgement than anyone else and it would remove our need to be in shadow priest groups freeing up room for more locks, mages, boomkins and healers.

I also think we need 2-3 shadow priest for every raid to makes progression easier all around ;)

Hunters

A legendary ranged weapon will be available soon. (New 25 Man raid ?)

Mana issues are being looked at.

Many changes for hunters will be implemented in 2.3, more utilities for arena battles and group utility are planned.

Hunter's arena weapons prices might be lowered to reflect the fact that they need to buy two weapons (or even three).

well, they're looking at mana issues anyway! =P

You know I spoke too soon on the mana issues. A BM or Survival Hunter should be ok on mana but a Marks Hunter would probably burn through it all very quickly compared to the other 2 trees because of the cost of Multi and Arcane.

If they can manage to make Ret not suck for PvE then I'd be all over that, or if not me I can think of at least two other pallies that'd step in and get their melee on.

I'm sure that stang knows why Arms Wars and Ret Pallies have agro issues. We're built around dropping bombs on our target. Or in Joe's words: "Dropping bombs and eating babies!". For Fury Wars and Rogues it's death by a thousand cuts; small and steady DPS as opposed to streaky. But like I said everyone knew that. For Arms/Ret the limiting factor of our DPS is aggro, not our actual dmg potential.

And I know I haven't raided but for DL's sake, and Paladins as a whole, I want to see him MT 25mans too.

Oh and Beorn, go swords in S3. Unless they're giving the BSing maces another tier I don't see a point staying Mace, especially if you have access to Wind Fury.

QFT - Me and Sibixuang are actually going back to 2handed Swords as soon as we get the points (2weeks for me). The weapons in S3 are rumored to require a 1900 rating. So you'd have to wait until S3 and then wait until 1900 rating.
