Mmhm, I saw this a few days ago...

Very sad shaman here...
Looked at my previous completed artifacts and I have 4 wards of empress zoe... aka 4k gold
No telling how much else I would have made if I had saved ALL the artifacts I've made so far, especially since I'm only 2 rares away from the professor title >.<

I actually saw this yesterday at the Razer booth here at CES. You guys may want to look at the actual size of it, its quite small. Like, below netbook small. It really looked like a gameboy DS with an extra keyboard added in my opinion. I like the concept idea of it, but I just don't see it being very popular what with how much it reminds me of a gameboy

Since I'm gonna start raiding again with ya'll over the summer, I'm free anyday except friday and saturday, for normal raid times, 8-12 or w/e.

QUOTE (Fatherpeteus @ May 4 2010, 12:06 AM) *
Calories in > Calories burned => Weight gain.

And yeah, call me a flaming liberal or whatever, but parents who stuff their kids with ho-hos because they've trained the kid to be addicted to sugar and now it's a fight to make them eat anything else... I wouldn't say that's bordering on neglect.

I agree with this completely. My parents raised me on fast food and junk food. Heck, I used to drink a 12 pack of Dr. Pepper before lunch time at school, and i do have to blame my parents for most of it since that was all I was served at lunch / dinner during home meals. Also whenever we went out to dinner it would be the same thing. They also consistently had me taking medication for ADHD, that my doctor had diagnosed me with, but as with the sugar addiction above, 'hyper-ness' comes from that really easily.

I myself eat out quite often, and so the calories in > calories burned => weight gain part is completely true. Most kids who are obese (and not for genetic reasons, that happens, I get it) are not just that way because their parents don't properly feed them, but it is also a LARGE part due to what the kid does during their spare time. My parents never took me out to the park, or tried to get me involved in any sports, whereas other people I know can't imagine an indoor life like mine. Just think of the growing gaming market. What were you doing when you were in 4th grade? I know I was playing pokemon. I played it during class in free time, I played it on the playground during lunch, and when I wasn't playing pokemon, I'd be playing the card game or another card game. And just look at what we have now. If you get your kid addicted to WoW as much as some of us are (I know I am), there is no way he/she is going to be going outside for a sport anytime soon.

Everyone here can say that unhealthy eating leads to a poor lifestyle, and yes it can, but it doesn't always have to. No kid is actually force-fed fast food everday, I've never met a family in my life who didn't take at least some care to make sure their kid got the proper nutrients. In my opinion it is the fact that parents in the electronic age are becoming lazier and lazier and not being outgoing with their kids.

That's just my opinion on it all. I don't blame food industries or improper diets. I blame lack of exercise and other fat burning mechanics. Having a generally active lifestyle => having a generally healthier kid.

Im currently studying comp sci as well at my school. I've also done a couple internships and am looking to work in the gaming industry upon graduation (yeah tough luck). I may just end up working with the IT for this bank, since they pay super well and have great benefits (21$ / hour with time and a half for OT JUST FOR AN INTERSHIP!)

As far as programming goes, you really just have to find a language that suits your development needs (I.E python is a very good entry level gaming language), and then just play with the language and make your own fun items.

I've programmed in C, C++, C#, Java, MySQL, PHP, COBOL, Pawn, and a lot of the electrical engineering languages like matlab, verilog, etc. One of the most useful languages I've used by far is PHP, but I do find that most network mainframes and big companies are using Java as the backbone of their coding. Java is an OOP just like C++ and yeah, its pretty simple to look up.

Basically, yeah, just find what your interested in. If you want some programming languages that link together real well with common things, give me a holler, I can tell you some. I really want to get into the world of game development, but I already know I'm going to need at least a couple more years at a technical school once I graduate with my bachelors degree. Most companies won't take on programmers unless they have 10+ years of experience for project teams, or somewhere in the range of 3-4 years of engine design / graphics, so sucks for me haha.

Raid times look fine, gear might be a bit undergeared for a constant raiding spot though if you're just coming in straight off of heroic gear. Wouldn't be a big deal cause you can get upgrades real easily from frost badges, voa, and icc 10 runs.

But hey, if you're damage is good, /support

Sorry Shean, rivatuner is purely an ATI and NVIDIA gfx card software, it can't access your cpu fans. One thing I've seen a lot of people use for CPU fan stuff is actually just called speedfan. I however, have absolutely no use with this other than just installing it and running it to check my fan speed / some core temperatures.

One thing you could try (and this would distinguish if its your gfx card or not) is to find a friend with an open pci slot and put your card in it and see what happens when he tries to run graphics off of it. If he uses it as his output card and nothing goes wrong for a while, then yeah, might not be your card. Other than that I really don't have any more suggestions other than start picking stuff and start hitting it with a hammer till it works. I mean you're gonna buy a new one afterall icon_razz.gif

QUOTE (Shean @ Feb 28 2010, 05:12 PM) *
Well I just got all of the boards and heat syncs blown out. Had a lot more dust built up in them then I had thought there was. Right now it is up and running but I am running it with my on board Video card instead of the one I bought for it. Chozo I run a Nvidia 9800 GT with a GB of on board memory. Yea if you got any tricks shoot em my way, if I can't get on through this PC luckily I still have a running laptop. Yea I can and could get into my BioS as well as run my pc in Safe mode. And yea Shad unfortunately I think it is more then just a temp things atm. I got my video card blown out real good too and it was a lil dirtier then I thought as well. Gonna install it back and see if it will power up still or if it will go back to crashing repeatedly as well. Any help would be appreciated. I am just hoping that the overheating that I know it was doing didn't have any adverse affects on my Mother Board, and only affected things that are a lot easier to replace. Although I did file my Income tax last night so I am hoping I can swindle a new PC out of the wife. But keep your fingers crossed everyone please. S

Ok so first off, for the overheating of your GFX card, nvidia yay.

Go DL a program called rivatuner - http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner

I've only used this program for a few weeks, but oh my god has it made a difference. Basically it lets u low level overclock / force set your fan speed. Theres a lot of tutorials that you can find online for any card, and I use ATI so my instructions probably wont be the same, but there is a lot of documentation on overclocking each gfx card u might have. Basically I force set my card fan to 100% all the time. It causes more power to be used, but has brought my card from constantly overheating at ~80 degrees in raids to about 40-50. Big difference in my opinion.

The dust sounds like a big problem as well, should definitely help your cooling issue out.

Thirdly, are you familiar with your motherboards / cards / other components voltage requirements? The BIOS has an area of it that will tell you the voltages being sent to each component, and you can compare that with the recommended voltages for them and see if maybe something is not getting enough electricity, or if it is just a overheating issue, the stuff I mentioned above will help a lot.

Try these out see if anything helps. You can always try rolling back your drivers if all else fails (I don't know if you constantly backup your system or anything like that) or even doing a full windows re-format (Good time to buy windows 7) and just re-install wow (Yay for 6 hours of DL / update time).

Good luck man!

What kind of video card are you using? I might have some tips that I use if you have an nvidia or ATI card. When are the restarts happening? Is it after windows boot, or prior to that. Also are you able to access your BIOS and check your voltage settings for your components? You mentioned you just bought a new power supply, may have accidently put a cable in the wrong link, or had something come loose.

We usually have about 3-4 hunters show up per raid. Don't know if you'd be able to get a consistent raiding spot.
